'02 Porsche Carerra Vert. vs. stock LS1
A VP in the office has one and because it is the almighty "Porsche", everyone thinks it is invincible. I'm fine with if his car is faster but think it would be a good race. He definitely does not seem like he would race. All he did was school my friend's BMW 330 vert. Whoopie but now I hear from her all the time how his car is so fast. (Note: She will not let me ever get next to her. Brother/sister feud where I wouldn't let her live it down.) We get along very well so it isn't like going at it with some idiot and it is friendly. I told him we should go to the track sometime and it woudl be fun. He obviously declined. Stock vs. stock, who do you think would win? I just got the car in Dec. and don't think it is very quick coming from a CC306 cammed LT1. I have a lid at home waiting to be installed but don't really consider it too big of a mod.
EDIT: Him= VP with Porsche, her= friend with BMW

Had a hard time following your post... throwing in hims and hers without explaining who you are talking about, but whatever...
Stock vs stock, they are pretty close, but from what I've seen the Fbody usually edges out the carerra by a little...

Internet racing sucks. Just go out and do it. Make a wager so that he wants to race. Say if you win he can no longer call his car fast, but if he wins you have to wear a clown nose around the office for a week. Or something. But you get my drift.

I took a older 944 with EASE... IDK how close the 944 and the Carerra are, nor do I care, but I assume the carerra is newer and faster, but your ls1 is newer and faster than mine, you should take his as, b/c he prolly can't drive.

I agree the Porsche shines at handling not dragging but he and my friend insist it is "faster" which in most people's book means straight line speed. When someone says guy 1 is faster than guy 2. Most would think a spring and not a shuttle drill. He made the comment "I would be faster off the line....." Maybe only b/c he would get traction.
Oh well, I will keep you guys updated if I can coax him to the track.

I've raced a few Porsches. I use to work on Porsche race cars, and such.
'01+ Carrera 4 'vert. Beat him pretty good, had 2/3 car lengths on him at the top of 3rd.
You could say it will be close, but in reality, I'd give the nod to the Fbody every time. Like posted above, they are quick for sure, but excell in the twistys.
The carrera is the base model 911, with horsepower in the mid 300 range depending upon year. The 'vert is heavier, and is a little slower than the hard top. The regular Carrera is 2WD, the Carrera 4/4S are AWD.
0-60 in the low 5-5.5 second range.

Didn't notice it said vert... definitely puts it more in the favor of the LS1...
No offense, but then why would you even bring it up if you had no idea what was under the hood?

n/a 996 isnt gona be streching its legs even on the high way, his only chance is from a dig, ls1 will put bus lenghs on it from a roll, as for the 944 being slow, theres a lot of 350 -400 rwhp ones out there and a few in the 500 range, they are quick lil cars when ya start turning the boost up
