Default Jayplayed with a WRX.

I must say, I love these cars. The WRX in Blue is beautiful. Anyway, driving around looking for fun I stumbled upon a WRX with loud as exhaust. He wouldnt go from a 1st roll and he wouldnt stop to line up...WTF?? So as soon as a good spot opened up, I downshifted to 2nd and as soon as I come up to meet his door he hits it.....anyway, we were even for a second ( bad traction in 2nd) and then we walked right by him, we put about 2 cars in second gear and he let off before we went into 3rd. Anybody know if M/T are that much better than Nittos?? My car is spinning more and more in 2nd at 30-50mph. Nice car, good kill.

My cousin had both on his 03 cobra, first the m/t and then the Nittos. He said the Nittos were better.

We just put a Whipple on my buddies 03 Cobra last week. He has both 315 Nitto 555Rs and MT ET Streets. He runs the Nittos on the street and the MTs at the track. He was trapping 120mph with a ported eaton, he ran at the track one time Saturday and trapped close to 129mph.

You have officially entered the "catch 22". To answer your question, Yes M/T are much better for traction. But they are much worse in rain and wear out a LOT faster. So if you only drive it in dry weather and don't mind buying tires twice as often then switching to M/T is a good idea. But if you do sometimes drive in rain or do not want to replace the tires every 4-6K miles then M/T may not be a good idea.

Many people prefer running Nittos on the street and then run either slicks or M/T Street radials at the track.

BTW what PSI do you run your nittos on the street? I run mine at 25 psi on the street and they wear fairly even and hook pretty well. Then I drop them to 18 psi and heat the **** out of them when I'm at the track.

Damn, I run my Nittos at 15 lbs on the street! Sometimes 18lbs. Yea, Im trying to wait ONE more week for the results of the 2.6 and 2.8 KB's before I buy one( whipple) , been waiting and waiting. Im gonna have to try M/T's even if they wear out that fast. Thanks for your info.

Nice kill on the WRX. Bizarre that he wouldn't run in 1st gear, as you would have a huge traction disadvantage. What about BFG DR's? They hook much better than Nittos, as the BFG sidewall is softer and the tread doesn't need to be heated up as much as Nittos to attain grip. Yeesh. 15psi on the street? That must be pretty squirrely.

Funny...the all wheel drive car didn't want to dig.

Nitto's..everyday driving.

BFG's....track days, or ONLY dry days. No high speed ****.

Mickie's....same thing.

Goodyear is coming out with something bro....

BFG has a drag radial that's pretty good too. That's what I'm going to try next. Hell, I tried everything else, why not one more?

Mickey's are way better in terms of traction. They are deadly as a daily
driver though (rain). I still spin through 3 gears though on the 17" MT DR's.
I'm think I'm going to run a 15" MT DR on the street (28" slick at the track).

Just fyi...personally, I would go with a 2.6L KB before a Whipple...unless
you can get a Whipple used and for a good price.

Nice kill!

Thanks for the replies on the tires. This way I dont have to try 4 different types. Unit, I pmed you about the 2.6 and 2.8. KB seems very reluctant to sell the 2.8, so I guess it will be the 2.6. Ive been on the phone back and fourth with them and let me say one thing......customer service COULD be improved a bit. Everybody sounds so mad. Anyway thanks for the input guys.
