Raced a bone stock 05 EVO. Questions!!!
I raced my buddies 05 EVO (stock)last night from 0-110mph. He got me out of the whole until about 70!!! I FINALLY passed him and had only 1 to 1/2 car lengths on him. I have a 98 formula A4 (2.73) bone stock. Is that normally because I thought I would have beat him by more. Thanks

My car weighed in at 3321 due to the SSL package (leather, sunroof, Infinity system with syb yada).

Stock EVOs are weak top end because the boost drops off to 16psi and also because the stock cams really are huge limiting factors.
You can fix the first problem by getting a $80 manual boost controller so the car can hold 19psi to redline instead of 16psi. That 3psi increase helps A LOT.
The cams make the powerband 100x better and able to make power to redline. Stock, the power is falling off after 6500rpm rather quickly (bc of cams and boost taper).
The outcome of the race is completely normal. 05 EVOs stock usually put down around 250awhp while LS1s can be around 275-310awhp, since this guy was A4 probably around 30whp advantage.

EVOs typicall weigh between 3250 and 3320 depending on model. The RS (stripped model with no wing) usually weighs around 3180-3200. They are very rare though. The MR weight is about that of hte regular VIII.

AWD has nothing to do with up top really. In general AWD cars put less power to the ground everywhere because of the parasitic loss through 4 wheels instead of 2.
