bone stock 99 viper...410 rwhp and 465 rwt SAE on dynojet

Previously owner of a now very missed 2004 C5...378 rwhp and 370 rwt SAE on dynojet


Well today started off just like any other normal day....Went through all my fatherly duties of cleaning and changing dipers and then went to another stupid Bdy party...

hey i really like the friend who's party it was but in general I just dont like the bday party thing when i could be home watching a movie enjoying my time off...

But I go to the party and my friend is their with his bone stock 2005 manual NSX He also owns two silver 1000 rwhp SAE Mark 4 supras ( but he was in the NSX tonight)...My other friend is their who owns a 700 rwhp and 900 rwt supercharged 97 Viper GTS as well as a bone stock 2005 E55 AMG that put down 413 rwhp on the dyno bone stock...

Well we three get to talking and the hole two hours of the party turns into a car conversation for our table ( VERY FUN STUFF IMHO)

turns out my E55 AMG buddy has set up a race for me with a 425 rwhp SAE 1997 EVO that has ran a 12.5 at ( 123 ) and yes I just said 123 mph....

I tell him man are you insane...You know my vipers bone stock and Ill trapp any were from 116-120 max if im a decent or great driver...no were near 123 mph!!!!!!!

But I agree to it and we go to the selected spot to meet up...

Well we get their and low and behold it's like a movie scene straight out of fast in the furious...


Their was my 410 rwhp Viper
-the 425 rwhp EVO
-a 350 rwhp turboed S2000
-a 550 rwhp Supra ( owned by my other friend who was previously 430 rwhp and pulled my C5 by 2-3 cars on the freeway if you remember that story) but didnt want to run tonight due to an poblem with his PCM
-a 610 rwhp Supra ( on race gas) who was 525 rwhp tonight on pump gas
-a stock C5
-a stock 05 NSX
-a stock STI
-a lightly modded 350Z
-a lightly modded srt 4
-2 more lightly modded s2000's
-a 80's style 5.0 that was giving the below ricer cars hell
-A pimped out Hummer

And then 10 other ricer type cars that were pretty pimped out and decently fast but not worth commenting on..


All together their were 20-25 of us that headed out to the freeway....

First race was me against the 550 rwhp supra...

We started at a 70 mph roll...

beep beep beep....Im in first gear and i put 1-2 cars on him instantly..I quickly have to go to third and I here his turbos coming fast...By 90 mph he's gained back the two cars I put on him and we stay even till around 105 mph were he started pulling on me..

By the time we shut down at 120 mph he was a solid 3 cars in front of me...



Then the 550 rwhp Supra and 430 rwhp EVO go at it....The Supra puts four cars on him..


So next me and the 430 rwhp EVO line up...

Beep beep beep....Just like the Supra I immediatly put 2 cars on him in second gear from 50-60 mph...

Then around 70 mph I here his turbos spoolin and here he comes fast.....He gets right beside me and we stay like that for what seemed like a solid 5 seconds....

Then around 120 mph he creeps up and puts a 1-1.5 car gap on me...By 130 mph we shut down due to upcoming traffic...

Next the stock E55AMG and 430 rwhp Evo go at it...

The E55AMG hangs with him side by side for a while and then gets pulled by 2 cars by aound 110 mph..

I go to rev at the stock STI since he's right beside me and he gives me the wave that he dosent want any...

But the stock C5 in front of him goes to the next lane so that their side by side...

They hit it and the stock manual C5 pulls him from the very beginning and by 120 mph has at leaste 4-5 cars on the STI...( pretty kool seeing how that would really go down stock for stock)...


Well in the past 2 hours that we had been cruising and racing are group of 25 had seperated and dwindled down to around 15...

The whole night we had a point man who stayed 1-2 miles in front of our group and would radio that it was clear ahead to race...

Well it was getting late and he decided it was his turn for a stab at the viper...

Since he was driving an S2000 I thought he was joking the first time he reved at me....But hewasnt and we did the three beeps..

beep..beep beep...........Holy crap his s2000 is fast....were kneck in kneck through my second gear ( unlike the earlier competitors)..But then in 3rd gear around 80-90 mph i put 2 cars on him and hold it their till around 110 mph were he comes back up a car and by 130 mph Im only 1-1.5 cars in front of him....

We end with me in victory...but with lots of questions..Turns out he's turboed and pushing 350 rwhp..Car is also lightened and set up for road racin....My favorite car of the night and quite a sleeper...


An of course with this many cars involved their were many many more races...but these were the ones that i remember best......


I WAS EXTREMELY IMPRESSED WITH THE VIPER....LOOSING TO A 550 RWHP SUPRA BY 3 CARS AND A 430 RWHP EVO BY 1 CAR IN MY BONE STOCK CAR WAS PRETTY GOOD IN MY EYES...

I was really kool about the runs and congradlated the guys on their sick rides ( and I gave the stock c5 guy a cigerrett for beating the stock STI guy..that was classic)....

Im gonna do some smooth tubes ( air intake $150-200 bucks) and get off road pipes to replace the cats ( $ 100 bucks) and hopefully dyno 430 rwhp and 485 rwt or higher...

This will hopefully let me take out the EVO and be really close with the supra.

My 378 rwhp C5 was an 2.73 geared auto and got pulled by 3 cars from a 70-135 roll by a supra with 430 rwhp....My C5 wouldnt have been able to hang in this crowd due to the gearing and rwhp...

My vipers 32 more rwhp (410 vrs 378) and ESPECIALY tourque ( 465 vrs 370 for the C5)and slightly better gearing ( 3.07 vrs the auto vettes 2.73's) just barely was enough to hang in their with these guys..

Now if I had a C5 coupe with the 3.42 gears and 410 rwhp I may have been able to pull the Evo....But the auto and 2.73's with only 378 rwhp....I honestly would have lost to the 350 rwhp S2000....

Or maybe you ment at the track....the vette went 13.55 at 103 bone stock and 299 rwhp and then when modded the car went 12.80 at 111 mph with 378 rwhp...

The car was trapping pretty decent but with the 2.73's a 2.1 60 ft was the best i could ever achieve ( even on slicks)...

All runs were made in hawaii in 75-90 degree weather at a DA of + 1000-1500

Sounds like that s2k knew how to brake boost and the others didn't to be able to hang with you out of the hole. Sounds like some great races and a lot of fun.

They closed our one and only drag strip in March 2006...So I have no idea...

Ill probally never no what she'll run bone stock...Since a 300 shot and air intake ( smooth tubes) and no cats will be on the way soon to put me around 430 rwhp and 485 rwt NA as well as 700 rwhp and 900 rwt on the 300 shot.Man i love having a factory forged engine!!!!!!

Then everyone of those guys will go down to the Domestic with $1500 bucks in mods.....

Cool. Just make sure you budget some dr's in there somewhere. There were two Vipers with me at the track the last time I went. One stock 99 RT and a 96-?? GTS with TT's making 750's at the rear. It was running 11.6's@135mph on street tires.

Hey FEARSM....yea im taking baby steps right now...Besides the Supra..Most of the (HIGHLY) modded imports were right at my stock power level or way under....

Im sure with just an air intake and no cats Ill take out the EVO as well as just about any of the medium guys on the island..But for you bigger 600-1000 rwhp Supras im gonna need the 300 shot...

One great thing ive noticed about the viper is that even with my little 410 rwhp I can still give 500 rwhp supras a good run...Im 3390 pounds so what????Only a few hundred pounds lighter right? But when we first hit it I ALWAYS put lengths on who ever Im racing...But then the higher HP modded Supras realed me in and passed me..

I guess it's because of the instant tourque???? So Im THINKING that with 600-700 rwhp from a 200-300 shot ill be able to take out all of the middle guys plus most of the Supras....But man I just dont know about the 800-1000 rwhp supra guys...

Well Ill just get guys like that to run me on pump gas..Ha ha ha....

Im gonna give you know who's 1000 rwhp beaste a run here shortly..But i told him pump gas and his lowest boost setting...

He laughed and said he'll still be around 600 rwhp and kill me. And i agree with him but it will be fun to see were i stand bone stock.

Your torque definitely helps certain setups can handle that without giving up multiple cars on the hit if driven right. My engine is almost done. I would definitely like to run the Viper before and after the spray. I wont spray till you do..lol. I want to run the 1kr supras also. I all ready have something setup with the Evo and of course me and Gus will go at it at the track as usual.
