Default TA vs GT

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/3...9d00180906.htm

This guy is a buddy of mine. he was pretty bummed when I beat him. However, the car is in terrible need of a tune. It should be much much closer once he gets that done. Still though, i was proud.

btw.... posted ehre because i couldnt find a vid section. im new here, is there one?

Nice kill. He didnt really put up a fight. I hope that tune gives him A LOT of power because his car is slow for his mods.

That's a pretty big list of mods to lose that badly to a basically stock ls1. I hope for his sake that the tune is limiting major power.

Not too suprising....take a look at the mods compared to what that year of 5.0 was putting out. Hes gonna need NOS or some kinda FI to keep up once you get a couple bolt ons

all 5.0's mod about the same. his issues are that he is SN95 (heavier by about 400 lbs) and his tune is way off. its not uncommon for tuned HCI 5.0s to trap around 110-112, especially when they have the suspension to back it up. I was waaaaaaay surprised by the results. From what I know of his setup and my experience with those cars, I think he stands to gain quite a bit with a dyno tune. Im thinkin hell take the next set of races.... but then again.... Im modding too

I dont think he is going to get you even with a tune, he is probably making less horsepower than you. his combo is very minor. I think he should of gone with 4.10's instead of 3.73's. but still both great cars and awesome races.

I would like to see a vid of after tune races. please post when you do thanks

this was just an intro vid. we are planning on getting lots of footage of us just messing around (burnouts, donuts, whatnot) as well as doing races after each mod. Every time we race ill add some and re-render it. Ill keep u boys posted.

FYI, the multimedia section is where you post videos. But I'm glad you put it with the racing story. Great Kill too.

94-98 GT is about 3350lbs, and a late-model foxbody GT is ~3150-3200lbs. So it's more like a 150-200lb difference. Unless you're talking about a mid 80s foxbody, or a notchback.

blue book weights arent always that close. the later hatches did get a little heavier, but they were just a shade over 3k. and the SN95 chassis was usually underrated as far as weight went. They are a little heavier than that. almost 3400 at full wet weight.

and thanks 2k1. I looked around for awhile but i couldnt find a vid section..... probably looked right over it.

Well everything I've seen has the 4cyl notchback being the only 87-93 Stang under 3,000lbs, so I'd venture to say an estimation of 3150-3200lbs for a GT hatch is fairly accurate.

I dont want to start a pissing match, but I just came here from the world of mustangs. Ive seen em on the scales. the foxes are lighter than advertised, and the SN95s were a little heavier. the 89 5.0 notch was right around 2900

Well I'm in the world of Mustangs right now... comparing anything other than widely-accepted numbers is kinda pointless. I know that notches are usually 2900-2950lbs, but GTs were a good 150lbs heavier.

Cuz the 400lb weight difference is exaggerated... it's not even a 400lb weight difference between a '93 notchback 5.0, and a '94 coupe 5.0.
