So my WS6 has a spintech cat back, slp lid, K&N, smooth bellow, and I got beat by a stock non-Ws6 Ls1 T/A last night. Not sure how it happened. I did have a passenger, he did not, but what gives? I've been driving a stick for quite a while, so I'm no slouch when it comes to shifting. I don't know if it was an auto or not, but he pulled me pretty strong until i got to the top of second and then he barely nosed by me. Never got to talk to the guy aside from driving beside him, but he claims it was bone stock, sounded like it too. My car hasn't been running the same lately. Any ideas?

I thought I heard the sound of a turbo, but I can't be certain. My girlfriend said it sounded pretty stock and that there was no turbo whine, but I coulda sworn I heard it. He claimed it was stock, and was throwing a cat back on it next week. Who knows, it pissed me off though thats for sure.

That's what I thought he would have torn me apart with a turbo. My friend told me that maybe it was a factory freak when I told him that today. It was definatly weird...What's the deal with factory freaks?

Maybe a 01-02 with the LS6 intake? He could have a lid or something thrown in there that would help. You look under the hood?

Nah I didn't get the chance, we only talked while driving then parted ways. It didn't sound bad *** or anything, and he claimed it was stock. Who knows, I doubt it was beating me and all unless somehow I lost 50 horsepower or so.

if he had an 01-02, he could have nosed by you. it happened to me. just barely though. plus it could be a freak to begin with.

think i got one.. with few nods i run 13.00 flat at 107 all day long .. few cars with my mods or even a few more can beat my car.. ??? not sure why .. i bought a one owner with 3000 miles on it .. still had factory tires on it when i got it ..

That may be a quick car, but it doesn't sound like a factory freak. I think most stock LS1s hit mid to low 13s at about 104-106 (correct me if I'm wrong - I know it varies quite a bit from car to car). My buddy just bought a 2002 trans am non-ws6 that ran multiple 13.5s at 105, so a few bolt-ons should put him in your range I would think.

ForumMoto: What year was the other car? If it's an 01-02, I would think your passenger and the LS6 intake he has would help to even it up a bit. That story doesn't sound that unrealistic. Remember that cars vary out of the factory. Plus the fact that he may have been lying about it being stock. Have you gone to the track or dyno?

Yea with how few mods you have, I could easily see him edging you out. Most cars from the factory dyno on average 290-310 rwhp, with some falling as low as 270 or as high as 330 even. Ws6 has 10 more hp over T/A 00-02? With your mods you maybe added 20hp. Very plausible for him to win by half a car, especially since you had a passenger and he didn't, that's about = to giving him another 10hp. Just him doing the FRA mod could close the gap.

He could have had minimal mods and considered them not much, so told you stock, instead of listing everything out the window.

I would be pissed too, cause I am competitive....btu try not to sweat it......your G/F robbed 10+ hp from your car....and he could have had better gear option.

I'm not sure what it was year wise to be honest with you. It looked really nice, so maybe it did have an LS-6 intake. Kinda weird getting beat though by something with less than my car, or maybe more depending on how honest the dude was. At least I know now that it wasn't uncommon or something I should be ashamed of. How much do you think the port/polish TB should do for me? I'm saving up for the LS6 intake. Thanks guys

The ported Tb will definately help you out. Its a good mod and will perform even better with the ls6 intake.

Your mods should be good for 25 HP. If it was a stock 01 or 02 you would be the same HP. A 100 pounds is good for a .1 at the drag strip. Get headers, cam and tune and then your car would be faster. 01 ans 02 have better heads also.

I don't think I'd take it too personally...you essentially have no mods yourself. There is a pretty big disparity among these cars as they came from the factory...some had more power than others, and there really is no rhyme or reason (talking about the same model year - the 01s and 02s will be a little faster with the LS6 intakes). I got one of the slower ones
