Default Bolt on LS-1 vs. Blown 06 GT

Hi guys, this just happened last night.

I was returning from a friends house, i took a 3 lane street, i was doing 15 mph becaise theres a light ahead.

Then this beautyfull Mustang GT (eleneor clone) with big *** 20" rims (eleneor like) paces me and hits the light a few second first than me. Whwn i hit the light, i turns green and i just floor it it 2nd gear a put a solid car length, then i hit 3rd and continue my steady pull, all the way to redline.

I braked, and he did a rice fly by, but instead of running away, he waited for me and again:

I started i 2nd geaer around 3,000 rpm and i pulled a car instantlly, and then 3 gear and kept pulling (maybe half a car more) for the total at around 2 cars.

I know this where real short races, but there was no space for better races, so he tells me to follow him to talk a while.

His car was a 06 GT auto, procharger running 8psi, cat back, and intake thats all. He was REALLY surprised that i pulled him.

He just have gotten back from san antonio Texas (wer`re in Monterrey, Mexico) and he invested $8,000 dlls.

He thought my car was modded as hell, but the crude reality hit him, my car only has these mods:

1999 Camaro Z/28 M6
LT headers, 3" True duals with dynomax bullets, SFC,LCA,4.11 gears, short shift, lid FRA, LS6 intake, nittos extreme 275 out back. msd plug wires, free mods... and i think thats all lol.

I know its a long list, but mostly bolt ons either way.

thanks and i hope you enjoyed my story

Well his car is about 380-400rwhp with those mods and a safe tune, and mid twelves... you're a mid twelve second car too, so anything's possible...

I would find a way to total my ride and collect insurance if had a supercharged 06 GT that lost to a bolt on LS1. For some reason I thought the supercharged GT would be faster. Nice kill.

Well the guy wasn`t too happy.

I`m pretty sure that my win was because of my gears, that`s why i got an instant car on him. Maybe if the race would`ve been longer he would catch up to me. But i was pulling on him steadily in all 3rd gear. Never know.

If he's only running 13.0 with a blown '06 GT, he needs to have someone else run his car for him

The 4.11's are the reason you put lengths on him IMO. He might have had you, and should have had you on rwhp but with the mechanical advantage it changes things. BTW great kill

Good kill...its just another case of Ford needing a blower to compete.

So how does an 06' GT stock fare against a stock 01-02' Ls1? I would imagine the Ls1 would be close.

I'm not trying to stir the pot.. but if an 07' Mustang GT < a stock N/A Ls1 from 5 years ago, then that clearly that tells you somthing.

Clearly, auto makers are not going keep pumping another 25hp per year into their base model powerplants. That would put the 4.6l 275hp motor of 5 years ago at 500hp today. Most try to tweak the motor to get better mpg while maintaining the power rating. If they do gain a few ponies while keeping the smog ***** at bay, then great.

So what we clearly see is that the LSx pushrod design that GM started with was in fact at least 5 years ahaed of it's time!

Yupp.....hp being +/- equal, the lower geared car will have the mechanical advantage. My SS really became quicker from my first mod......4.10's.

I would bet that weight differential had a pretty good part in it too.

I have seen in Baton rouge, LA an 03 gt 5 speed with a cat back, 9psi procharger and 26x9x15 mt slicks go 12.18 @112mph. For a blown 06 to go 13.0 he needs to learn his car. He should have been in the 12's easily. I'm sure with practice he will be there. I have also gone low 12's with my 00 z with bolt ons and dr's. An ls1 with a procharger should dip in the 11's. Nice kill. Whether he can drive or not, he lost

A stock ss or ws6 with a fair driver will go low 13's a great driver might dip to 12.8-12.9. a 06 GT with a great driver will go 13.4-13.6 an ok driver will be 13.7-14.0.
