Default z28 vs. Ram SRT-10 for 1000 bucks

I'm at at work talking to a friend trying to explain to him that my 5.7L Ls1 is a completely different animal than his 5.7L TPI...when some *** interrupts me and tells me how I'm always talking about camaros and his srt-10 with a "Viper Engine and 5 speed" will dust my auto Z. I told him I'd smoke his POS SRT-10(i happen to think they're really nice BTW), trying to bluff me out he challenged me to a 1000 dollar race, much to his disappointment I agreed. He then tells me I'm stupid, I'll lose my 1000 dollars, and I'll never beat a viper(it's a big *** pick up btw). I did the research SRT-10's run mid 13's at 105 ish, just like Camaros. This guy is the same age as me 19, and the truck obviously isnt his. Which means he more than likely cant drive the "5 speed", which is really a 6 spd, and my auto will be consistant. The SRT- 10 is stock, my z28 is mostly stock, but for 1000 bucks I'm not running my car stock. I've been thinking about getting a wet kit out of the used parts section, or a cam or something to put me over the top. A stall would obviously be the best thing but I DD my car and stalls suck on DD's. What do you guys think.

I really doubt you will need anything to take him. Especially if you guys race from a dig. Just for insurance purposes though, a wet kit would be the easiest and quickest bet. I took out several SRT10's in my lightly modded Lightning(exhaust/tune) in the 1/8th. And I would get handled a car or two by a lid/cutout only M6 LS1 car. Use that for reference.

The plan is to get him to spend a 1000 modding my car, but a properly set up 200 costs more than 1000 I'm sure.

I doubt that he will actually pay up so make the race more in line with a 19 year olds budget...$100 in cash and $900 worth or pride. It's not even his ride he is trying to race you in.

How do you know he is stock?

He would have to be modded beyond your basic catback and K&N to take you.

Nitrous would seal the deal. But he wont pay up.

If he doesn't pay up, take it out WITH INTEREST on "his" truck. Before you line up both of you give your $1000 to a trusted party. After the race it is their responsibilty to pay the winner. Pretty common knowledge? That's how we do it at least.

Oh and get at least 100 shot. Cause... well why the hell not?

I raced one in my area last year from a dig and put about 2-3 cars on him. We went from 0-75 but i spun alot since I was on street tires. I was going to leave him alone but he kept reving at me so finaly when we hit that light i threw him a rev. I tryed to get a roll race but he stayed way back then turned into a gas station or something. Im not sure but definetly would not line back up in the nice straght highway type of road we were on.
Good luck youll take him and just incase he has mods id get that 100shot

All I have to say is... ever hear of a sucker bet? Look around you, if the guy offering the bet isn't wearing a neon "sucker" sign... you might be. Especially if you are assuming a vehicle you know nothing about is stock.

Both stock he will get you from a roll for sure, from a dig you will kill him. The srt is a bitch out of the hole, 500+ torque plus low pro tires equals ****.
I know from experience, my dad has an 04 SRT-10 ram and I had a 99Z28 A4. Until I got my parts on the Z he would outrun me from a roll no problem.
