Default my first kill!

It was a nice day here today in dayton so i decided to go for a ride. i was headed down town to pick up 35 east and i notice a '99-'01 mustang gt infront of me. the guy driving is revving real high shifting at like 4000rpm and stabing the throttle a lot. so i 'm like ok whatever. we take several turns through the city and he is going the same direction as me. we get to a light that is tuning yellow and he blasts through and i slow down and get in the left turn lane. i then see him stop, pull into a parking lot right after the interesction and come back to the light and turn right at the intersection (my left). i quickly understand what is going on and i start prepping my self for a race. we get on 35 east and dick around a little till we get out of traffic i pull up next to him and motion him to slow down and roll from a 50. we do so, i was in 4th i believe, i give three honks and we're off, he hung with me for about 3 sec then i start to pull on him easy at first and hard near the end. i shut down with about 5 length ahead of him. i slow down again and motion for another run, he says yes but seems less enthusiastic. this time it's about 50-60 roll and i'm in 3rd. yeah, he had no chance. i was quickly 5 lengths ahead of him. it was my first kill after having my car for almost a year. FINALLY! but it was fun.

yeah it was my first race. i think thats why he hung with me for as long as he did and why i was so slow to pull on him, but i learned my lesson for the second race.

Sounds like fun.

For future reference, on a stock LS1 M6 (3.42), anything under 55-60 can easily go into second. 35-40 or less in first (if you have traction) and above 60 in third. If you're going fast enough to have to START in fourth, you may want to reconsider the race, haha.

SURE IT WAS A GT???.....if you kicked at 50 in fourth and he held for a while it was a 6cyl.......50 in fourth????? wow......

still, a kill is a kill.........

no go practice rolls in second and first at diffent speeds and report back

Ya , you shoulda ripped him from 3rd to begin with .... a 2v GT can't compare stock for stock with an LS1 IMO "especially" from a roll at higher speeds. Ive seen plenty of 99-04 GT's around here try and hang from a roll but it hardly ever works out for em' , unless their heavily modified of course. No offense to anyone

If you punched it in 4th and the gt was in the correct gear which would be 3rd he would have pulled you . LS1 and a GT are not comparable stock but from what you just said even a mild bolt on gt should have had no problems with that type of an advantage

Yeah I actually tried flooring it it from 50 in 4th gear just to see what it would do. Well it didn't do much needless to say, maybe the GT was in the wrong gear as well?
