Neck and Neck with a 96 GT???
LOL j/k but I raced my friend out of boredom, knowing that I would win against his 96 mustang GT with full exhaust.
We started out leaving town and i had it in 3rd gear at about 65 and he punched it and I stayed right on his *** at literally 1/4 throttle. It almost made me feel bad for him lol. Then we lined them up from about a 50 roll and I was in 2nd and I let him have the jump by about a car and I easily made that up in about 2 seconds. From a 30 ish roll I instantly put 2 cars on him as soon as I hit the gas and probably a couple buses up to 110~
It was just for fun, but his car is pretty quick for being a lightly modded mustang of that year. Most of them down at the 1/8 mile run 9.8-10.2 @ 70~ ...he ran a 9.5@ 73...either way...pretty slow.

Yeah, '96 and '97 were pretty pitiful. Low 15s cars for the most part, unless you got a code 248a "stripper" which could hit high 14s on a good day. I had a '98 which was marginally better (10hp increase from '97, and mine was a late-'98 with 3.27s instead of 2.73s), but still not that impressive in stock form. Watch out if he gets some more bolt-ons and a PI headswap though... a near-300rwhp Mustang with good gears is no joke. Good runs

The PI swap wouldnt beable to run with you still if you have a 00 SS. They dyno in around 180-190 at the rear wheels belive me. I ran a best of 14.4 on simple mods im running a 13.8 right now with radials. With PI intake. Not so bad at least i can still run with the LT1's....stock.

The PI heads swap wouldn't make that much of a difference. I wish it would, but In reality, It wouldn't. Not saying that it wouldn't help, but it just wouldn't make that much of a difference. Not against his SS. He would still easily beat him.

Maybe ford should have taken a couple of years off during 96-97 and gone to the drawing board and come out with the supercharged cobras a few years earlier. Then, maybe GM would have had a reason to keep making the Camaros and T/A's.

Yea theyre slow but they can be made to look decent..my friend has a 95 5.0 with intake/full exhaust and its pitiful and he knows it, he wont even run me..but its alright to cruise in and sounds good

yeah the 96 has a 4.6 rated at 215. haha. Its really bad, my first run i hit a 15.1. Stock. since been modified...but still PI swap wouldnt come close. It would be like racing a factory 99-04 GT.

not really. my buddy has a 96 gt he put down 190 horse with x-pipe catback and cold air intake. After he blew the head gasket he did the pi swap. after the pi swap and shorty headers the car made 256 horse midway through the run then he blew an ac line and the engine compartment caught on fire! so he shut it down. hasnt been back yet to get a full run. The 96-98 gts have less of a dish in the pistons then the 99-04's so when the pi head swap is done they run around 10:3:1 compression. a stock 99-04 is 9:4:1.

yeah about 10.5:1 compression after. I know all about the swap i have done countless amount of them. haha.
The cams and intake are what the swap is all about. The intake doesnt flow for crap and the cams dont have as much lift. The heads are only worth about 5-10 rwhp. The NPI heads really are not that worthless and they can be worked to come out pretty nice.
Im at 226 and 291 tq at the rear wheels right now. I have plenum and TB with PI cams to put in and go back. But even at 260ish trying to run a stock SS i wouldnt even think about it. I guess i could hope he just spins?

i wasnt sayin that he could run with a stock f-body i was just sayin that the FULL pi swap can make some decent power. well not really decent but a considerable amount more than a stock 96-98 gt

I had a 96 gt also. I thought it was pretty fast considering I came from an Isuzu mini truck. I could not keep up with any f-body's anywhere. I had an underdrive pulley, x-pipe and cold air. Tq was good but sucked in hp. I then put a 125 shot on and then it was like pissed off cat in a paper sack. It dyno'd just a little over 300 hp and pushed 400 ftlb of tq. Now that I have an f-body, there is nothing like it. Except maybe a Z06.
Good kill.
Good kill.
