Default 5.0 vs. LT1

No video because I was by myself, but it was a fun race. I was going down Irving park road, and a fox-body 5.0 (green hatchback) flew up next to me and paced me because there was traffic in front of us. About two miles down the road we hit the intersection of River Road and Irving. We are side by side. His car sounded good, but mine was louder with my cutout open. I noticed he had a large tach on the dash, so I though this would be a decent race. His was definitely a stick. I heard him bang it into gear as we left the light. I didn't plan on going, but then about halfway thew the intersection I heard him punch it. He was about 3 cars ahead by the time i nailed it from about 20 mph. I immediately started to stop his pull, and by about 90 i was at least good 2 cars ahead after being down 3 to start. I slowed to about 75 and we were side by side, and he had his car nailed, all you could hear was his exhaust screaming. I felt like adding insult to injury, so I was able to pace him without even keeping it floored. I gave him a thumbs up and then turned onto Cumberland.

anything from a dig or roll under 35mph, my car is fairly decent...i still have the shitty 2.73s...I am debating whether or not i should upgrade to 3.73s, because in the meantime, I want to cam and stall my car first and then save for a 9 inch, I don't see the point of doing the gears twice when I can have a 9 inch within a year of the cam install...

Good kill... if it was THAT slow, it was probably an exhaust-only car. He bit off more than he could chew.

yea, there was no lope or whine, so I am pretty sure it was just a catback or intake...Most mustangs around here are usually louder than my car even with the cutout open...

Good kill. What is your plan for a future car (see you are selling the 94)?

there is a kid with a 97 cobra that lives about 4 blocks away from me. Its and manual with ORH pipe, catback, 315 tires out back(i think, they are huge, lol), intake, and I think 4.10s. I think as it sits, he should beat me, however, he isn't the best driver. I've lined up with him before at an intersection, and he would stare at my car, but as soon as that green light would hit...nothin...

I am trying to find a high mileage LS1 car to rebuild with a H/C setup, however, there is a major lack of interest in my car, lol...I am only lookin to get 4g out of it...I have an LT4 KM comin this week...I am trying to work out a deal for a CC503 cam package, and if the price is right, I am going to buy it, keep my car, and go from there...I kinda like being the underdog. At the same time though, I need surgery on my back, and I just found out I might have to pay for that out of my own pocket, so if that happens, I have to keep the LT1.

good luck with the surgery, try to find a pro bono guy in your area who might cut you a deal! it's a tax write-off for them so it's possible!

lol, thanks...I have to go see a plastic surgeon this wed. to see if she can figure out what it is...My other doctor said he's pretty sure it isn't cancer or a tumor, but it needs to be removed, so the plastic surgeon is going to do it...

Best wishes. I have been recovering from a mild herniated disc flare up since Tuesday. The spinal area can create pain like no other.
