Default should i remove calipers

I finally decided its time too change my brakes after they started grinding. The problem is i want to do a nice job painting while im at it.So i wanted to remove the calipers and paint them but i read that since i have traction control they cant be bled without a scan tool.So can i get around using the tool or should i just paint them on the car.By the by the car is a 2000 z28.any info or suggstions would be great.

I don't see bleeding it out being a problem. I would just use something to pinch the rubber brake line while you have the caliper off painting it so all the brake fluid doesn't come out. But you should be able to bleed it no problems.

Pinch off the hose and you wont have any problems bleeding.

i painted mine with the calipers still on the car. just use newspaper and painters tape to mask off the rotors and spray away.

I painted mine on the car with no problems. I did a buddy's, who is a member here, and just left the caliper attached but removed the bracket. I didn't change pads when I did mine, but he was changing pads and rotors so we took them apart. Just a side note, I didn't cover my car when I did mine. Second time around we wrapped his in plastic.
