Default Strange coilovers

Do the coils have to be compressed to adjust the ride height of the front coilovers?

No they do not. That being said they are not the easiest thing to adjust on the car. Do you have the bearings under the springs?

I didn't put them on the car and the ppl that did were lazy and did a shitty job. One side is an inch higher then the back and the other is a half inch high. It didn’t look like there were any bearings under there just 2 "plates" with notches in them.

First, do you have 2 spanner wrenches for the spring seats?
You'll need them to loosen/adjust/tighten the spring seats.
Second, get a can of spray lube and spray it around the base of the spring so the spring seat will turn easier.

IMO,however far you want to raise/lower you car, adjust the lower spring seat up/down half that distance. That will get you really close to where you want it!

Clarify your statement on the "inch higher". The way I read your post is that the spring perches are at different heights on the front. That is correct IF the drivers side is higher than the passenger.

I would also recommend the Strange units for the rear. Most of my customers however still just use the factory style springs and the replacement Strange units instead of coilovers.
