Default UMI Driveshaft Loop Review *Pics Inside*

Just got my Driveshaft loop from UMI... I've waited the last 6 months for a UMI to produce this after realizing there Tunnel mounted tq arm wasn't for me and it was worth the wait.

It was Very Easy to install, the clearance is good around my ORY & Strange Driveshaft and the ground clearance isn't too bad even with the dip to clear larger exhaust.

This is a rear shot, My Single chamber in the Y-pipe sits lower then the loop and I have no issues with scraping that so I'm sure the loop will be ok.

How much ground clearance did it take away?

Just be careful with passengers in the car. I have a Spohn TQ Arm with a loop built into it. It looks to have about the same ground clearance you have, I am also lowered about an inch. With one extra person you can't make it over small speed bumps with nailing that loop piece.

I've had me (280) and a buddy (260) in the car with no issues at all even with the crappy roads in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

Hello
What type of exhaust are you running? We offer two versions of cross members for that particular reason. Are you using a larger diameter DS as well? Below is a link to show you what I am explaining.

yeah i ran into that issue just this past week. Was super excited to get it in but not to happy when i scaped on the way out of the lift bay with an inch lip out of it. Ive hit every small speed bump on post there is and get antzy everytime i go over a few dips with the cobble stone around here in Germany. Hoping i can exchange it with UMI for the flat one bar one, doubt it but can always hope lol Great product and quality craftmenship but on a lowered car it eats up more then you think. If you can run the other one, I would do it. Save some clearance on lowered vehicles.

a wee bit low for me. Gonna see if i can get the other one

Tell you what if you run OBX headers with an LLP ypipe, it tucks up nicly. i had cats welded in later so it ate up some room on the drivers side. But before that it tuck up better.

Based on your picture the straight design would have been a better choice.

It is tough and we know that one you have is low. We have to do this in order to clear all the y-pipes on the market. There is so many brands and different fitments we had to consider then all when building that item, y-pipes with cats and merge collectors were the biggest issues to clear. We actually just redesigned that loop not too long ago to clear the redesigned y-pipe TSP just came out with. The new TSP y-pipe is some what lower and uses a merge collector so we have to keep it the way it is.

Unfortunately since it is installed and scrapped a few times we wouldn't be able to take it back... however I am sure it will sell very quick in the classified section.

If I can help anymore please ask. Thank you!
Ryan

Yeah I thought since i have LT heads, i though I needed this one. I guess OBX did a good job again with design lol as did LLP for ypipes. I guess ill have to sell it or live with it then (probably not). Oh well.
