where to buy front spring mounts (and what brand).. Can't really find it in search
Hey guys,
I've searched but couldn't find what I'm looking for.
Can you guys direct me to the best spring mounts for the fronts and where I can buy them.
I don't need the isolater only the mount that actually holds the spring/shock to the top of the wheel well.
? ??
Moog.. autozone... GM
? ? ??
Thanks !

GM is your best bet. there's been a few people on here who have had their moog and kyb ones fail pretty quickly. not sure if those people forgot to put the top metal/rubber piece back on top under the nut though, seems like that would stop the center from pulling through but maybe not.

I've seen people refer to that diagram before, but its not really what the setup looks like at all.

with any used parts you have to weigh the benefits. If the part fails what damage will be done. if the part fails how easy is it to replace. how much is a new part.
new parts is almost always a better idea.

Thanks for all the replies so far guys,
Do you guys think that putting used GM mounts on will do anything to my brand new koni's ?
I was just thinking maybe used mounts would make the dampener rod bend funny under load...
let me know your thoughts !

just in my opinion - i think used is fine. after 90K+ miles, i reused mine on my precious new konis. unless they're directly damaged (like from a wreck), i can't see how you could go wrong with a used original gm mount.

Thats sort of the way I'm leaning, I'm sure a decent looking used GM mount is better than a new kyb/monroe.
I can't justify spending that much on mounts brand new.
But most of all I'm worried about a used/crappy mount bending the dampening rod (somehow) on my new little koni gemstones.

Stay away from the replacments shock mounts. I bought a set of Monroe mounts and they didn't even line up!
Just bite the bullet and buy new ones from GM. You can probably get away with used ones but thats up to you. I'd suggest used GM's over any aftermarket piece.

What problems did you have?? I installed a new pair of Monroes, when I installed new shocks/springs, a couple of months ago. Finally the snow melted, we got some rain that washed the salt off the road, and I took the car for a short ride.
I heard a "clicking" noise, and decided to take apart the one side to look at one of the upper a-arm bushings, and one of the threaded inserts came loose from the rubber part, and I had trouble getting the bolt out....
