Default UMI A-arms, overtorque lower balljoint

castle nut slot did not align with the cotter pin hole at 79 ft-lbs, it was either stop at 65 ft-lbs or go to 100 ft-lbs

I went to 100... Is this too much?

Moog says to never back the nut off, rather, to keep going to the next slot... but 100 compared to 79 seems like a lot, don't want it to break while driving... should I pop the joint and reseat to 65

A 3500lb car hits a curb and all it does it knock it out of alignment. Happens all the time. I venture a guess the loading on that ball joint would be a tad more than 100ft/lbs.

My guess is that after 50K miles, it will be a real bitch to get that nut off will be the only fall-out front your over-tightening it.

Hello
Like mentioned above torque it to the designate spec. And then just use a box wrench and turn it until the carter key lines up. Torquing the castle nut to 100 lbs is not necessary.
Thanks
Brad
