Default rear spring spacers

so i'm having a little bit of rubbing with my 295/35-18s in the rear whenever i go over bumps fast or during hard cornering.

i would like to put a small spacer, about 1/8" - 1/4", between the upper spring isolator and the upper spring mount.

something like this from mc-master carr
http://www.mcmaster.com/#9515k611/=7dt9xe
part number - 9515K611

i know its 3/8" thick, but thats all i could find.

what do you guys think?

any other suggestions?

thanks
tony

I've used Mr. Gasket (part no. 1287) spring spacers with success in the back...how much it raises the car depends on where you put it on the coil. It gave me about 1/2" back there...

I'm guessing it does...I put mine on an active part of the coil, but I didn't really notice anything when I actually drove it after the install.

the use of a spring spacer changes felt/perceived 'spring rate' because of fewer active coils.

Sorry to be a pain, but how does a spacer cause there to be fewer active coils? I thought a spacer just seats the spring higher.

there are two kinds of spacers.

one goes either above or below the spring to provide additional "height" to the spring. this does not change anything about the spring or how it works.

the second goes inbetween the coils of the spring and therefore does not allow the spring to compress as much under load. this changes the spring rate of the spring by not allowing it to compress over its entire length.
