Default Replace calipers w/45k miles

Im getting ready to throw on some new pads, rotors, ABS delete and do steel braided lines on my 00 WS6. The car only has 45k miles on it but should I replace the calipers while Im at it? I can get them for about 10$ a piece after core at NAPA. I just dont want to change out my OEM caliper for an inferior aftermarket caliper.

Thanks guys.

I dont believe its necessary to replace calipers with only 45k miles. But if your **** like me, I would replace them just to be safe in the future.

I think unless there are signs of wear or problems with braking your calipers should be fine.

No real issues stopping, just squeaks which is more the rotors and pads then anything.

Really nothing to replace on them except piston dust boots, slider pin dust boots, and piston washers. You could, but there's really no reason to replace them unless you're having problems, or you're upgrading to better calipers.

I wouldn't bother.

My car has 160k miles, and I've replaced 3 of the 4 calipers now. Just recently (within the last couple K miles) replaced the rear driver side caliper. Front passenger side is still original, and works fine.

I replaced all of mine just because I wanted fresh calipers and brackets to paint. A1 Cardone reman. calipers with brackets will run you about $200-250 after turning in your cores.

wow...that seems kind of expensive. Bumper to Bumper locally had them for I think $28 a piece, which might be high.

I would highly recommend to anybody on this board going with OEM brake calipers from AC delco if you are going to replace any of your calipers. I replaced both front calipers with aftermarket rebuilt units on both of my cars last year (other car is a 97' Olds 88 aka Bonneville). So far I have taken 3 out of the 4 calipers back to the store under warranty because they wouldn't fully release when I let off the brake and the heat generated from clamping warped my rotors. I am almost 100% sure that if I had went with AC delco units I would not have had this problem. I know it wasn't the brake lines because both cars had full overhauls including lines last year, and when I went to take the calipers back I cracked the bleeders open and the calipers still wouldn't release when I went to take them back.

I picked up a set of AC Delco reman C5 calipers for $185, without figuring the core charge in...something like $110 with the core charge taken out of the total price. There's not a whole lot to "rebuild" with a caliper, but I've gotten enough **** store-brand reman pieces to not even waste the money on them any more.

If there is nothing physically wrong with the calipers, do not replace them. Your chances of getting a piece of **** rebuilt unit from the auto parts store are much higher than actually having one of your OEM PBR calipers fail.

I also can't see them being $10...sound like you are subtracting the core charge from the price of the caliper instead of adding it.

I'm assuming that's just the front 2? I've been good with mine so far, but maybe I'm not hard enough on my brakes

Yeah, that doesn't include the rears.

My fronts have been fine so far, I just needed to spend more money on parts
