Eeeek! Rear Koni Shocks Didn't Come With Nut! Help Please!
Hoping to get a quick reply.
Doing my 4/4 install this weekend. I seem to have been shorted 2 nuts! I have the rears in, mounted to the body with the 2 nuts on each shock, but I didn't get any more nuts in the package. I am missing the nut that mounts the bottom of the shock to the axle. Anyone happen to know the size? I tried to use the one from my old shocks but it does not thread on.
Help! Worst case I could pull the shock out and bring them to the hardware store but I would rather just get the size
Thanks!

Same here...what's up with Koni getting stingy? I bought 2 new Koni''s from Summit and they didn't come with the bottom nuts or lock washers. I picked up a pair of grade 8 nuts and washers at Lowe's though. I forgot the size, but get yourself a thread pitch gauge and check it on the stud....if you don't have one handy...you can print out SAE and Metric layover charts here:

OK ... and I corrected your lack of basic fastner knowledge so that the OP wouldn't try to source a 17mm nut.
And your response was like you got your period this morning ... you know, non-responsive but the words sounded like you knew what you were talking about.
Here's an internet forum tip ... if you don't know the answer, then it's OK to just simply not post anything.

If you are looking for the nuts for the bottom stud that mounts to the rear axle, that is 14 mm x 2.0. Try to look up yellow page for fastener specialized store that carry metric stuff.
I had to go through the same thing. I bought my shocks from Sam Strano, and I called him. Apparently if you had factory shocks, you can reuse the original nuts. I had KYB on my car, and apparently KYB comes with their own mounting stud/bolts which are different size from factory.
Hope this helps.

Reuse the stock shock's nut. That's what you are supposed to do.

Car didn't have stock shocks I ended up finding the nuts I needed by scouring my friends garage!
Thanks, this does help. I would like to replace the nuts I found with some shiny new nylock ones

If you use a lock washer, there is no need for the nylock..... and I prefer a lock washer myself. GM nuts are pinch nuts, that's how they hold.

Let's fault people for trying to be helpful -- see how many people try to help in the future. Sure did not see you helping with your two posts that added no value in this thread, and coming from someone who runs rear shocks with no bumpstops, and pretends he knows how an STB feels on the F-Body but admits he has never actually run one. yeah.
