Talking New Product! 98-02 LSX Solid Aluminum Motor Mounts from UMI Performance

Solid Aluminum Motor Mounts for the 98-02 Camaro/Firebird LSX Engines
Part #: 2323
Price: $129.99 (Introductory Price of $99.99 per set)

UMI’s light weight solid motor mounts for the 98-02 4th generation F-Body bolt into existing holes in the engine block eliminating the factory rubber motor mounts. Solid motor mounts are designed to work with the factory K-member, UMI K-member and many other aftermarket K-members that use a factory style pedestal mount. These solid motor mounts are CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, nicely sanded and finished with a hard anodize to prevent corrosion. These aluminum motor mounts weigh half the weight as the factory motor mounts saving 3lbs of total weight. Motor mounts are simply bolted in to place using existing hardware, no modifications required

NICE!!! Aside from saving 3#'s, is there any other benefit? How will they hold up with wheels up action....or the landing more importantly! LOL Any risk to an aluminum block using these?

+1 on the Forged spindles IF they work for street duty, i'd be IN!!!!!

Well yes, that's what I was suggesting, put up with being driven hard for 100,000+ miles, like the iron ones, on public roads in all conditions. GM can make stock cast aluminum spindles for the vette, and have them last.

Thank you! We will only be offering them in a clear anodize finish. However if you would like we could powder coat them red or black. The anodize would hold up a lot better, the powder coat may chip when installing and we would prefer to see anodized purchased.

These are solid motor mounts designed to eliminate the rubber or poly mounts, so they do have benefits over just weight savings. Solid motor mounts for these vehicles have been available for many years so we are the inventor of a solid mount. We have used them in the past as well with good luck and haven't seen any issues with a block cracking that I am aware of.

As for forged spindles, we machine and fabricate, we do not have the capabilities of forging so we won't be able to offer those.

Thank you!
Ryan

What's your point, did you have a hand in the design? I'm curious because in you introductory thread someone mentioned how your offering looks exactly like the Midwest Chassis mounts that have been out for quite a while.

These will be ready to ship Monday or Tuesday... just waiting on a batch to come back from anodize.

Thanks for your patience,

I'm curious, does GM ship solid mounts on any of its cars these days? If so, what are the mounts made of?

GM uses rubber mounts because they absorb engine vibrations and thus give a "smoother" ride. Rubber mounts wont transmit vibrations throughout the car and the driver will get a more "comfortable" drive.

yes! just what i needed when i needed it! ill be buying some soon as my tax returns come in!!!!

quick question my old tubular kmember had a problem with cracking at the motor mount stands welds, would these solid mounts help prevent that since they would be kinda triangulating the the mounting system?
(im also welding in gussets as well)

At this time this is the only solid motor mount we offer. There is another brand with a one piece that removes the cast iron stands. These mounts are little less expensive with the same weight savings.

So far we have used these with our K-member and have not had any trouble. We do gusset the motor mount pedestals on our K-members as of 2008. If you have welding capabilities and are looking to run these, gussets would be an excellent idea. Now we do offer more contact surface with our mounts than the others, we feel this does help to prevent any issues with the mounts on the K-member.

I hope that helps,
Ryan
