Default Fays2 watts link installed

Installed my Fays2
Took me awhe to get it installed. For sure doing this on a drive on lift will cut install time be nearly half.
One of the most time consuming parts of the job is removing the brake clips on the axle. I was able to remove the passenger side in under ten minutes by using a chisel but had a difficult time removing the driver side.

Propeller holes needed a little sanding as the powdercoating prevented an easy push through.

I purchased u bolts long enough to thread the bolts on after spacers are installed.

My proving grounds

My seat of the pants evaluation.

Recommend reading the instructions all the way thru and make sure u understand the function of the watts unit.

Nice writeup. Where did you get the spacers for the sway bar? Have them made or buy them somewhere?

Thanks

Great vid! Has anyone documented data showing the actual gains of installing watts link?

They are part of the Fays 2 kit. The only thing you might need is the correct size (per axle tube diameter) lenghtened u-bolts to mount the sway bar.

What's that clunky metallic sound when you turn the wheel back and forth -- is that just your keychain?

It's the mount for the camera.

Nice job man. Make sure too make some more video's if you continue testing like that!

Also, do you do any auto-x events or is this mostly a street car?

more testing please when you can. you never mentioned your speed of when the watts was installed. it also looked like you were turning the wheel 10-2 instead of a 9-3 o clock postion like in the first video. sorry for the critiquing(sp) but these things are not cheap and i am interested in one of these next year when i order a rear. this video will weigh in on my decision haha.
can you give us a run down of your suspension and tires during the videos? i know you stated some but it would be nice in writing for members of the thread.

kudos on the video!

edit: it just looks like you stressed the car more in the first video as opposed to the second...but the watts link could be the cause of that...i hope

nice job on the write up

maybe do another one with the camera pointing
out towards the front

this way people can get a better
perspective of before and after.

I only drive it on weekends, but will take a couple more vids describing how the car behaves over bumps, etc. Look for a couple vids next weekend; I goofed on aligning the rear axle and want to correct that before I hit some bumpy roads.
I usually do auto-Xs during fall, winter and spring...summer is too hot for me.
couple of old vids

I'll try and put her thru the same paces as the before vid after I sort out the rear alignment...didn't want to risk cutting a tire as my right side is out almost an inch compared to the left.
The camera is my iphone and I just had it in my sunvisor...it would swing back upon acceleration...I'll see if I can remedy that for the next vid.

when you tightened the propellor bolt to 100 ft-lbs, did the propellor rotate freely, or was it a little tight too?

your rear end should be centered with the Watts on?

yes, you're supposed to center the axle before you put on the axle clamps.

going on 3 weeks for me, but only 10 miles. In my book it was worth it.

Did I miss the 'after' review? How did the car feel, handle, drive, etc.? What difference over a panhard bar? Give us some details please! This is the first post I've seen about the Fays2.

Lightbulb

Try a ProClip mount -- you can add an extender plate and the iPhone camera will be above the dash, if straight forward is the direction you want to record...

From this mount on the drive side of stereo, an extension can be added and the actual iPhone device holder (a separate piece not pictured) will be over the dash, a metal extension might be better than the ProClip plastic one due to vibrations...
