Powdercoating my calipers
I'm getting them powdercoated "ZR1 blue," or something close. I've already bought the "V" decals for the calipers, but the powdercoater says he doesn't clear-coat over the decals, and obviously can't put them on before the baking process. My question is: if I simply clean the powdercoated caliper, and "stick" the decals on, is that going to result in peeling, or even melting due to heat? What are my options here?

I'd give Sean from "The Powder Pro" a call and see what he says. I went to two different "professional" powder coaters that said they couldn't do certain things. When I talked to Sean turns out it could be done. I've talked to him in person and he's a nice guy that does great work. He's a sponsor here too.
This is what he did with my FAST intake.

That looks amazing. I'm reluctant to send the calipers out because of the downtime required, that's really the main issue. I've got a local shop that can do it, but then I have the issue with the decal. I'd live to give a sponsor some business though.

All the brakes you see in my gallery with decals have a clear powder over them. The trick is knowing which materials to use with what base coats and clear coats as some color decals will burn in the oven at ceratin temps, or allow the base coat to bleed into them as the part heats up to cure the clear. It took some R&D but basically I have two different materials my decals are cut from and 3 different clears that cure at different temps that I use depending on the combo, which makes it all work.
Your local coater is lazy, that's all

Another shameless plug for Sean at Powder Pro. He did my calipers last year and I couldn't be happier with the results. Good guy to deal with as well. At some point this winter he'll be getting my rims to PC as well.
Calipers have also had casting marks/ect shaved and indents filled.

Keep in mind that was not just for coating work. That included our optional welding and shaving package, and also decals with clear coat, it was a full optioned package.
To tear down, prep, coat, and re-assemble 4 LS1 Fbody calipers and brackets its $225 plus $25 flat rate return shipping.
Welding and shaving like the ones above adds $100-150 depending if you want the rears welded up to be cathedral shaped like the fronts or not.
Decals with clear cost is dependent on the color of the decals..
Hope that helps.
