Default Did you adjust your rear shocks after a heavy rear end install?

After I installed my Moser 9 you can definitely feel the weight. I'm using Koni single adjustables that are off car adjustable with 4 settings. I'm on the 2nd from softest settings and wondering if I should adjust.

I'm just looking to hear from people who have done so. And don't say "just go adjust them and see what you like" just yet, wanting to hear from people first.

i put my Koni's at full soft and i really liked it, then i turned it 1/4 turn and liked it better for corner carving or aggressive driving. im about to make a 12 hour one way drive so i will be putting them back to full soft.

Well, here's where a supplier who knows the shocks matters. I can't go way in depth here because I can't just spill my guts on the matter.

But, you are adjusting rebound on Koni SA's, not compression. Compression damping is what deals with unsprung mass.

I'm posting my impression based on my experience (Sam, it seems to contradict what I think you're trying to say but maybe I'm misunderstanding??). I first ran a Fays2 Watts Link on my stock rear, springs and shocks (applicable because it adds about 18lbs or so). You could definitely tell the extra weight. Seemed like it wasn't under control. I then installed Strano springs and Koni SAs set on full soft. Although better, the rear still seemed "sloppy" (mainly talking over bumps and pot holes. Normal highway driving I can't really tell a difference). I'm now running the Konis full firm, and to me it's perfect. The rear axle no longer seems to flop around over holes and such, and acts more like it should.

Just my impression.

Mark.

A sloppy feeling over bumps could be corrected with rebound. Damping has to do with unsprung weight.

So maybe add more rebound? Mark2002 which rear Konis do you have? The 3rd or 4th gen shocks?

Rule of thumb is that compression handles unsprung weight. Koni single adjustable shocks only adjust rebound.

Compression deals with unsprung weight, rebound with sprung weight. Here is a critical, critical point. The right adjustment is the one that makes you happiest. I am constantly amazed how people don't seem to get it (their excuse for not wanting adjustable shocks, or not trying to dial stuff in on their own, etc.).

Very basically in the last 4 or 5 posts, half the responses don't understand how the dampers work relative the adjustment. That's ok, if the owner has found something he likes, that's the important part.

Don't the off car adj, rear koni shocks had a little bit more compression dampening, compared to the on car adj shocks, that's my understanding. Furthermore, crankin-up the rebound wont help it'll only make the ride and handling worse.
