Default Front strut mount, Help please!!

Hey guys, Got my stranos and Konis in today. The back went on without a hitch. The front however, is not the case. I need some tips for getting the shock off the upper strut mount. Got the bolt turning almost all the way off, however it stopped with like two threads left and will go no further. Having a lot of trouble out of this thing, please help if you can.

Thanks,
Justin

Slide a hacksaw between the coils and cut the shock. The shaft will then be able to slide out with the nut still attached

Cutting the shock can be dangerous if you don't know what your doing. As long as you have a Spring Compressor on the spring and the spring is loose enough from the shock just get a sharp chisel and cut the nut off, I just did one tonight for a friend it only takes about 8 good whacks with a hammer. But by all means make sure the spring is compressed if it isn't when then nut comes off the Strut mount will shoot off like a bullet.

I tried cutting the shock. It must be made of titanium mixed with diamonds. As far as the chisel goes, I will try that today.

Most of the time that nut is rusted to the mount. Cut, beat or torch it off. Be sure you have the spring compressed and secure before starting. I got lucky, mine came off without any problems.

Air chisel is ideal. But for me some bi metal hacksaw blades worked on the shaft. Of course the spring was compressed

I guess I need to get a compressor hooked up here in my house. Air chisel , impact wrench would have been Great.

It sounds like the nut is turning, it's just caught on some bad threads at the end of the shock. If you have a tap and die set, you can probably tighten the nut back down and chase the bad threads at the top with the correct die. I had a set I bought at Harbor Freight for $25-30 on sale and it comes in handy for things like this. Of course, there's more than one way to skin a cat, so cutting or chiseling should work too, I'm just giving you another option that may be a better match for what's in your tool box. Whatever you choose to do, just be careful of the potential energy in that compressed spring.

Got everything done guys. Ended up super compressing the spring and cutting the shock bolt below the mount. Handles crazy good and I haven't even adjust them yet. Gonna call sam some time this week to get the specs for them.
