Default Video: 2001 Z28--former Strano Performance car in action

The man who bought my Z28 sent me this video taken from the Blytheville AR SCCA National Tour a few months ago. The first minute is a roof-cam, but at 59 seconds is where I think it gets good... that's a shot taken from grid of Dave coming to the finish. Just watch that thing dance.

A reminder, this is my old car. It's on my setup, they very same car and setup used to develop my springs, my Koni settings and my swaybars. In fact it's on all those things too. It has a Fays2 Watts link, and headers, and a tune and a light clutch and flywheel, and the 17x11's. Dave works for and runs Goodyear's. Other than the tires, and the fact I added the Watts link after I stopped running Nationally with that car, the car is the way it was when I won the ESP National Championship in 2006!

Hope you enjoy, and remember not everyone can set cars up to do this, and that this is a 3400 pound car without the driver inside!

The brakes are stock LS1 stuff, basically. Hawk pads (a variety of compounds dependin on use) Techna-fit lines, Brembo Fluid, and right now it's on a set of the Best brand rotors I sell.

Great video. I need to install a watts link, right after I hit the lottery.

It's a bit reassuring, being as I bought all of my suspension from you, Sam.

The really cool part is the stuff under that car, is what I sell. As much as folks like to crow about how good the stuff they make or sell is, nobody else has the results (and the video) to show what the stuff can do.... even on super sticky R-compound tires.

That's the car I developed the springs on, and the swaybars... and the offset bushings, etc. What's really cool is that the new owner made some changes, then changed it back because what was on the car still worked so well after all these years. I last raced that car Nationally in 2006.

Thumbs up

Got my Watt's Link from Sam over the weekend -- excited -- now just have to allocate install time! Also have to get my 1LE rear LCA bushings (Moog) installed...

The road speed isn't that high really. Entering that section, though what we call "walloms" walls, that you slalom it was about 70mph. It was months ago but based on the data I saw in the Corvette I'd say that was around 45mph... but you can clearly see there are different types of speed. Pure road speed and how much is happening speed. That's the think with autocross vs. road course stuff. Things happen at a much faster rate, and the limit is still the limit, regardless of the speed.

Says he is on Eagle RS A's what is the treadwear on that tire?

You can see the grip in that car.

He knows how to turn a wheel also, he aint skeerd.

Sam is the Watts Link REALLY worth it, I mean really?

I Got a buddy with a Z with all the stuff mine has with your bars, Global West front arms and a Watts link. He drove my car on track and said he can drive my car faster than his.

And he had 450 rwhp (65 more than me) and weighed 700 lbs less than me.

It's on Eagle RS (which are race tires) in an "A" or autocross compound. This is not a normal street tire. This is their version of a DOT legal r-comp like the Hoosier A6 or BFG R1S.

I do not know how many times I am asked "is it worth it". Well, I've had 3 of them. The first one I used was this one on the Camaro. I since put one on each of my Mustangs. Yeah, it's worth it.

As for your buddy. Clearly there is something amiss on his car.
