Installed subframe connectors and exhaust still have rattles in rear
I took my convertible trans am 2000 to a local mieneke shop to install umi 3 point subframe connectors and slp loud mouth exhaust. It's my first time at this shop. Dropped of car in morning and picked up in afternoon. On my drive home I hear clunks and squeals when hitting potholes. Also they removed some kind of shield and said it doesn't fitt with the connectors. I might have bad shocks. What should I look for.
Thanks

Also SFC won't do a thing for rattles as the rattles are not caused by chassis flex, but rather shitty factory shocks letting vibrations and harshness get to the chassis in the first place. Get some bilstiens or the new Koni STR's, your ride quality will be drastically improved and the car will feel WAY more solid.

Logical decision; however, the problem is that they're not used to working on "specialty" cars. To them, it's just another piece of junk that needs an exhaust and some other work. Granted, I'm generalizing here, but that was my own personal experience when I first got into cars (Pep Boys was my first "mistake" ).

I'm in Staten Island and the regular shop I go to is in Brooklyn. They let me watch how they work on my car. The exhaust and subframe connectors are to big to take on a 45 min drive to Brooklyn. Every one recommended mieneke. At mieneke they said the parts fit like a glove. But now I have new sounds I didn't have before

NO SHOP that is a chain, Tires Plus, Tire Kingdom, Just Brakes, Meineke, Jiffy Lube, AAMCO ETC is ever going to do good work let alone on a performance level. I babysit when I grit my teeth and need to get tires installed by one of those jokes of a business to make sure no mistakes are made.
The rattle may be the exhaust system hitting somewhere on the bottom of the car, and pulling a heatshield off to make the exhaust fit makes me wonder since a LM bolts in the same location as a stock exhaust system.

When installing SFC, sometimes a shield on the driver's side needs to be trimmed. I ran into that when I installed SLP 3-point bolt in SFC.
As far as bangs/clunks/rattles, get used to it. Some of these cars are just noisy no matter what. Nothing in the back of my car is loose, yet its noisy. Then again, there isn't any more rubber isolators in the back of mine (roto-joint LCAs and PHB). But it was just as noisy before them.

Is there a problem driving without this shield. The shop removed it. Should I go to a different shop to have it trimmed or can I just leave it of.
I ordered bilstein shocks hopefully they will help quiet the rattles.

I did it nearly 10 yrs ago so I don't remember exactly what it covered but I think it was some fuel lines or brake lines. I don't know how the UMI 3-point SFC installs, but the shield didn't need to be removed for the SLP SFC, only needed to be trimmed. I'm guessing the SFC you bought are weld-in? If so, that won't be easy to put the shield back since it goes between the body and SFC. I'm not sure if it matters at this point. Maybe others can chime in.

Squeaks, go lube all the rubber bushings.
Rattles, start with cleaning out the spare tire well.
Even the little clip on my upholstery that covers
that, rattles if not engaged. Sheet metal amplifies
anything loose.
If the shield they removed is the one between the
exhaust axle arch and the gas tank, then go back
and punt them in the sack. Bad idea, that one. In
fact you should demand all the removed pieces, any
time you hire work done.

After some online searching I realize that the metal part that was removed is the factory tunnel brace. I don't sea haw it braces anything. It's so thin I thought it was a heat shield or a cover. I'm going to get a umi driveshaft loop for safety.
They have 2 listed ill start another thread to figure out which one to buy.
