Default Best Lowering Springs??

Hey guys,
I'm wanting to lower my SS, and I'm not sure which lowering springs are the best. I'd like a 1.25-1.5 inch drop all around, and do not want the rear to sag after some use.

Now I've read about the Pro Kit sagging in the rear but have they fixed that problem? I heard there new Pro Kits are stronger in the rear?

Out of Eibachs, Hotchkis, Suspension Techniques, LG, or BMR?

Thanks much.

Oh and should I think about buying new shocks as well? Bilstein? HAL?

I've had the Pro-Kit on for almost two years with no problems at all.

I've had 4 different sets of springs on my car, and the Eibach's are by far the best for all around looks, and ride quality. Everything else was either one or the other...

Just ordered a set of Prokits with Bilstein revalves from Sam Stano. He probably spent a combined 2 hours on the phone with me talking through all the different options. Give him a shout.

Just curious Damian, not trying to start a flame war with ya.
What other springs did you have on the car? Brand?
Did you experience the SAS (Saggy *** Syndrome) that others complain about with the Eibach springs.
Too bad you can't buy Hyperco Hypercoils anymore. They were touted as the best spring for the drop you are looking for.
I went with Hotchkis, but the Hotchkis won't drop it to the height that you are looking for.

I've got H&R Stage 2 springs. But the spring rates are fairly high, which requires more shock damping to handle the rate (meaning, more money on shocks, I run Koni DA's with mine).

Damnit! What the hell! Are you buying the springs this freakin minute. Some people have other threads to tend to except yours! If you are in such a hurry, use the freaking search key. What the hell do you think it is there for. That's how I researched my Hotchkis springs. I read up on 200 or so odd posts about the springs available for the LS1.

Sheesh, you NEWBIES are so pushy lately!

LG are out of stock last I heard. I bought H&R also, and Bilstein HD revalved. Very happy with them. It rides firm, if you don't have SFC then you probably don't want stiff springs.

I had the very first set of BMR springs when they first came out, and put about 70,000 miles on them over the course of a few years with the factory shocks. Never had a saggy rearend, and they rode great with no bounciness. They are progressive rate. I would recommend them. Also, upgrade your shocks at the same time, i should have gone with Strano as well.

Saggy *** Syndrome here.

The rear is quite a bit lower than the front. It's looked like that from the beginning and has stayed like that. Looks like ****.

I'm trying to figure out which springs I'll be swapping them out for.

Hotchkis...LG...don't know.

BMR are'nt low enough IMO.

If I had to do it over again, I would'nt have bought the Pro-kits. Just my opinion.

No problem man, I've tried:

Jamex- GREAT spring, GREAT ride quality, Wasn't low enough
Intrax- KILLER looks, terrible ground clearance, terrible ride quality
Cut stock springs- Good look, semi ride quality, clearance varied
BMR- Good ride, was barely lower than stock
MAC(these were on my LT1)- Little mixture of all of the above
Eibach- Best well rounded for what I was looking for

I do not experience the saggin ***

I'm going with H&R Springs with either Koni SA, or Strano revalved Bilstein shocks.

IMO they make the best springs in the industry, I have a lot of experience with H&R springs on BMWs. Basically they can't be beat, but I'm sure LG's springs are right up there with them on the same level with these cars. But your looking at a bit lower of a drop with them.

H&Rs are going to lower your car about an 1.5 maybe a tad less. Check out Turner Motorsports, they are around 200 bucks through them.

Tirerack has the H&R's as well. There are pictures of my car on my website with the H&R springs on it.

Nah, using the search key and looking at springs is a lot like looking for a needle in a haystack.

What this site needs is a "does this fit" equivalent forum for springs. Complete with photos of the eibach sag, the hotchkis "doesn't lower" etc.

I mean honestly us newbies do use the search, it just has the same info over and over again, and it just isn't the info we want.
