Default Recommend me some brake pads with good stopping power and low dust!

As the title states, i want to do new pads. I want to be able to have good stopping power but brake dust is a big concern for me ( I have Fikse FM10 wheels which are a NIGHTMARE to clean) please and thanks

Ceramics are going to be lowest-to virtually no dust AFAIK, but there not great for the track and don't have the bite of other types of pads. HPS are good for the street, they do dust, but not that much.

I may be trying StopTech Street Performance pads next -- I hear they are between an HPS & HP Plus and not terrible dusters -- would love to hear from others if they have tried these already!

Porterfield R4S... they are Kevlar pads.

I'm running HPS now and they initial bite isn't great, but they don't dust terribly and are easy to modulate and seem to stop the car decently. Tho here as it has gotten downright hot, the pedal seems to require me to really press it to get the car to stop? Like any heat in the pads and they turn to ****.

I have some Akebono ceramics on my other car and it has much less bite than the HPS but good modulation and feel to them as well.

The Porterfield R4S have the friction coefficient of HP Plus, but a much higher MOT (temp range) and low dust. They are expensive. But they will be my next pads.

I've had these Porterfields on my car for a LONG time. I love them!

Yellows squeak some and fall apart. They are Kevlar tho.

Porterfield don't squeak. Neither do HPS. HPS are a very good daily driver pad to be honest. I just don't know if they are really a "high performance" pad.

HP Plus definitely bite more than HPS when warmed up, and sure dust more and do squeak -- better for track day use.

To fix the noise go buy high temp copper anti seize and put it on the pad wherever it touches metal-metal. Or the caliper piston.

No more noise.

On a slightly different note get some good wheel cleaner to take care of the brake dust.

Default I use EBS Yellow Stuff

OP -

Those are the ones I use - I love the way they bite; unlike others here, I've had no noise issues (maybe my CD player is too loud).

Cold or hot, it doesn't matter - EBC Yellowstuff pads just work.

Now, I can't say that about the redstuff; when the redstuff pads were cold they had nothing!, but the yellowstuff pads do create a lot more dust than the redstuff pads.

IMO - It seems if you want bite (when your brakes are either cold or hot), then you must be willing to accept a greater degree of dust.

If someone has found a set that works when cold and hot AND doesn't create a lot of dust, then I'd love to know too!

Im using brakemotive's carbon ceramic pads, haven't noticed any dust at all, great stopping power when combined with the drilled and slotted rotors.

for street duty you can run the carbotech AX6...they don't dust that much and have good bite (more the HPS, less than HP+)

Ive had these on my C5 and now also my DD avalanche and they have virtually ZERO dust and provide far superior stopping power than stock brakes (night and day difference), in fact i like them so much I'm ordering a set for my firebird also. They simply can't be beat for the price!!

The EBC yellow are too dusty. I have them on the car now but will switch back to the EBC reds when the Fikse 10's go on the car.
