Default C5 rotors on my T/A

Will rotors and pads off an 04 C5 fit without modification on my 01 T/A?

LG makes some nice brackets that will allow you to use the C5 rotors on an F-body. Without relocating the caliper, the larger rotors will not fit. You can also reuse the stock F-body calipers and pads with this setup if you want.

There are 2 different brackets. The LG brackets like I have or the Bob Bishop brackets. Last I heard there will not be another batch of the bishop brackets. The LG ones are not on there site, you have to call and order them. They are 249.95. They move the caliper so you can run the bigger vette front rotor. If you want better brakes but dont want to spend 2K on a big brake kit they are the next to best thing. The upgrade made a huge difference in brakeing.

Ok cool. I have 2 more questions. Can i install these brackets myself or do i have to have them welded in? Second, should i use the stock C5 brake pads (only 4,000 miles on them) or should i upgrade to hawk pads?

They are bolt in so you can do it yourself. They are very very easy to install. That is one reason I went with the LG's, since you dont have to cut the mounting tabs off and the spindle. Also if I had to setup down to a 16" wheel or go back to stock it's 6 bolts per wheel. Stock pads will be fine for now. If you decide you want more grip then move to hawk pad.

Here is a pic of the LG kit with the DBA gold rotors.

Anyone have any pics of these brackets that LG makes? How about an install page for them?

Hey Jargon:
After purchasing the LG brackets, do you feel that they are worth the $250? Are they really complex and do they look hard to fabricate and are worth every bit of the $250 or what? Thanks.

By the way, nice looking calipers!

Well I got a hookup on them for $200 and they are worth it. Someone spent some time to design then and have the CNCed in t6 6061.

Thanks for the super fast reply lol. Yeah I know someone had to design them and everything, still $250 seems steep. $200 huh.. Maybe I need to make some mad connections between now and the time I buy C5 calipers and rotors.. It could happen!

I have a pic somewhere I will try and find it. There is no install page, but they are very easy to install. Basicly they bolt to the front of the spindle, put the rotor on. Bolt the caliper bracket on to the bracket then put the caliper on. Very easy to do.

Good info. Can you use C5 calipers as well? What else do you need to do that? Is it worth it or should I just stick F-bod calipers?

Yes you can use corvette calipers. Mine are still sitting in the box till I decide if I want to paint, polish or powder coat them. Once they are finished I will put them on the car. The corvette calipers are pressure cast so they are stronger then the fbody ones. They will hold up better in the longer run. If you can get a set for a good deal I say get them. Other wise just stick with the fbody ones.

jargan04-
How does installing larger rotors help you stop better? Aren't you using the stock ls1 pads and caliper?
