Re: What Brake Pads To Get?
I asked this question the other day. It seems if your just a street car doing occasional track stuff (not auto-x) than AC DELCO Duro Stops are the all around best for stopping and almost no brake dust.
I just got my Baer Eradispeed rotors and that's what I'm gonna use.

AC Durastops are the worst dusting pads out there.
period. I just took them off and put the stock ones back on. I will try the Raybestos next, I know some who have them with hardly any dusting.

Re: What Brake Pads To Get?
I had durastops on the SS with powerslots & they were loud & dusted like crazy. I've never seen pads that dusted so much. Whoever told you they don't dust was smoking some.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

You don't have to listen to us but I'd bet you $50 that once you get them you'll have to clean your wheels all the time. They dust soooo much. The durastops with the powerslots lasted me 13,000 miles then they were toast...

Re: What Brake Pads To Get?
I've had great luck with the Hawk Pads or the Performance Friction Z rated pads. I don't know of a high Performance pad that won't dust. The more aggresive the pad, the more dust. You are either eating up more pad or more rotor, both of which cause dust. It's just one of the trade-offs normal of high performance parts--- you can't get something for nothing...
Just my opinion.

AC Delco are the stock pads. I got 50,000 miles on them. Then, like a moron I took my car to Pep Boys who put the Raybestos (**** pads) on and I never thought dust can be this bad. 2 days maximum and my rims are black.
The stock pads (AC Delco Duro Stops) never dusted. It would take 2 weeks for the dust to start building up.
Raybestos pads are crap.

However, Raybestos makes a pad called the "Quiet Stop" series, that comes closer to the GM pads than any other pad I have ever ran. I personally prefer AC delco pads only, but these quiet stops definately suit me. They are made of a ceramic material, instead of metallic ****. They do NOT squeek, don't dust, and come with a LIFETIME warranty from Pepboys. Buy some, keep your receipt, and it'll be the last set of brake pads you ever buy for the front of your F-body. They are around 60-70 bucks I believe, the part # is PGD749QS.

Re: What Brake Pads To Get?
Quickin - Your getting the stock pads and the aftermarket ones mixed up. They are both made by AC-Delco, but the Durastops are sold over-the-counter only and have a higher metallic content. They are not installed from the factory.
They are a high-performance "upgrade" for stopping
power, but like mentioned above they dust horribly.
I would never recommend them, and they do squeak
real bad when you first install them.
The stock AC pads that come on the car from the factory are very good and don't dust at all.
I should have clarified that I will switch to the
Raybestos Quiet-stops. I know 3 different people who have these and all said dusting is almost eliminated.

Re: What Brake Pads To Get?
I have the Napa ceramic pads with my KVR rotors and they hardly dust at all.. stop just fine. I thought they were crap at first cause I had some noise .... turns out it was the rears making the noise.
I also had good luck with the Auto Zone brake pads before these.. again no dusting.

Re: What Brake Pads To Get?
I got raybestos quiet stops for the front..no dust and they are quiet..like them but they don't make them for the back yet..bummer..so went with kvr pads rear..they don't dust that bad but they are squeaking some..I think I am going to get the newest version of the factory rear pads..not the durastops obviously.brake squeak drives me up the freaking wall..and too much dust is annoying..
