Can Anyone Explain 1LE on a 02 SS non SLP car?
Hi LS1 guys, Can any one explain why my 02 SS convertible has the 1LE swaybars. I know it was a factory option from GM for 98-99. 00-02 it was an upgrade from SLP but my SS never went to SLP. CAN ANY ONE EXPLAIN?

If it is a true SS it went to SLP for the SS upfitting, check with SLP to see if it is indeed a true SS, they should also be able to tell you if they installed the 1LE swaybars. Check in the Special Edition Vehicles forum here and look for user David Hamburger, I believe he could help

Hi Rick99TAWS6, I checked that it was a true SS when I brought it from a GM dealer in 2006. I thought it had to go back to SLP as an option to have the 1LE suspension for the 00-02 SS models. It does not have the SLP second sticker on the door, I am now wondering if it had a SLP seconded sticker and it fell of before I brought it. Does any one else know?

Like already suggested. call SLP and give them your serial number and they will tell you what options were ordered/installed on your car. The lack of a second door sticker doesn't mean anything. Some asswipe removed all of the door stickers on my SS before I got it. Also, as previously stated, every SS went to SLP. Some uninformed dispute that but they're wrong.

Seems obvious to me that someone installed the bars. FWIW what exactly are you calling "1LE bars"? Because if you have 32/21, that was only available in 1993. A late 1LE has 35/21 bars, front hollow rear solid. You might well have the correct for '02 1LE bars, but that by no means the car came with them originally.

And yet, he bothered to buy a car.... that he put 11 miles on. And I'm wondering what kind of company bought an SS Convertible as a work car. Hmmm.

FYI. I real SS will have RPO code WU8 and if SLP added anything beyond the base modifications it will also have code Y2Y. You can also call SLP and they will tell you what it had.

That's a pretty strange history.

He has not answered what he is calling "1LE Sway Bars".
Do you have 32/19 or 35/21?????????
I believe 32/19 is standard on an SS so if those are the bars you have then yes, they are the correct bars for your vehicle.

And, that 21mm rear bar was only used in 1993 as I remember, after that, they were 19mm rear bars. So, it has to have been added at some point (or something really funny is going on).

I'd look for RPO 1LE on the options decal. That would tell you if it was a 1LE, but I'm about 103% sure a drop top 1LE doesn't exist.
