I know.
I was in the vette racing that guy in that race. Scary to say the least. It's ironic that on that race, my R/T was .009 (not bad for a 54 year old man ) and I launched real good. Glad I did or he would have hit me.
I bet it will be on youtube within the next couple of days. How do you tell the insurance company you totalled your car at the drag races? Lie? Nope, that's insurance fraud. Damn.........shame, and a real nice guy.
His car was supercharged, and I think had too much power for the drive train. Just IMHO.

it was his first time out to the track, he had already made several passes that night
he took off from the left lane, left the line spining the entire way to the 1/8 mile, left side tire smoking the whole way . . . he never let off, . .1-2-3 shifts
he lost it somewhere around the 1/8th mile, never hit the brakes . . . looked as if he recovered, but he was already on the center line, went back to the left, over corrected, and then shot accross to the right side, and hit the wall really hard, almost head on. It looked really bad from the starting line.

Yea I saw it, I feel bad for the guy but IMO it was his own fault. Like someone said he spun all the way through 1-2-3 and shifted while still spinning, almost like he was trying to spin the whole way down the track. I told my buddy as soon as he shifted the 1-2 while spinning, "this dumbass is going to hurt himself". Hope he came out okay, hard lesson learned.

I have many years of going deep in the 8's (1/4mile) and some 33X10.5W's out back and have slide through the traps on my lid... Some times you have mechanical failure. Not saying this was one of those times since they said "First time to the track" and "he never let out" but sometimes things can't be avoided. I have also seen 18 sec cars hit the sand trap at the end... Some times I think they need a RACER 101 before letting some people on the track.
