So normally, if you throw a shoe at even a regular police officer you get into that kind of trouble with the law here. And now he threw his shoe at the President, and gets the same? I guess I don't understand that, and would have expected more. You can spit on a cop and go to jail like that. Is it because he is not a US citizen that they took him back and had his trial there? Sorry to sound like a government noob here, but I don't get it.

The shoe throwing incident took place in Iraq... The Iraqi journalist got his *** beat pretty bad afterwards by the Iraqi police... I think they broke bones too. 3 years is pretty good for throwing a shoe...lol

I guess the fact that this dweeb showed contempt for your country (assuming you are American) is lost on you. This is your president. I'll bet the media would have called for this idiot's head if it had been Barak Hussein Obama!

or the fact that i understand the symbolism and realize its a FAR greater insult over there... as an american i thought it was funny, if i was an iraqi, i might have a more in depth opinion... lighten up

haha you people crack me up...yes freedom of speech is what's killing our country....but I didn't even mean it like that...just meant too bad for the guy more in the sense of "too bad he's going to jail for failing"

I just think of it as hilarious...first thing that crossed my mind was "who throws a shoe, honestly" *in austin power's voice*

and for the record I was born in TX and lived there too...not that crossing the river was that big a difference

Throwing your shoe at someone in Middle Eastern countries is a great insult to the person. Remember the tearing down of Saddam's statue and the choice of men and woman to throw, smack, hit, and stomp with shoes / feet rather than their hands upon the infiltration and take over of Baghdad.....

Same thing in this case plus journalist weren't allowed to carry any items into the room other than a pen and paper when the President, Assawhi or any other official held an audience and answered questions...

Shoes is all he had....

What a piece of ****. I don't give a **** if you like him or not, he was the commander (at the time, he was the commander) of the greatest country on this earth. Show some ******* respect for Christ's sake.
