We lost a good friend and fellow LS1 member last night
My good friend Henry Canales was killed in the line of duty last night. He was an HPD under cover auto theft officer. He was helping a stolen goods sting operation that went bad. My wife and I have been friends with Henry since high school (over 26 years) and we will sure miss him. He went to Pasadena High School. I know several of the members here remember him. He went by "Henry" on here.
He called me up in the middle of last year and asked me to find him an F-Body that he could mod and start bracket racing. I found him an 01 Camaro here on LS1tech. He bought it the next day. I tuned it for him, he put a Circle D 4C converter in it and ran high 12s a few weeks ago at HRP. He loved racing. He got both of his kids into Jr Dragsters as soon as they were old enough to drive. He owned and operated a "Beat The Heat" car and supported the program designed to help encourage kids to take the street racing to the track. He made a positive impact on so many people and never asked for a penny in return. Guys like Henry are very hard to come by.
He leaves behind a ton of friends, his 15 year old son, 17 year old daughter and his wife. It's just a really sad day We lost a great guy.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing"
You're friend was a soldier for us & paid the ultimate price. May God bless his familly.
I went to police week 3 years ago. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. It was truly humbling & made me feel so thankful to be alive.
I assume HPD will send his family & they will need a LEO representative. Maybe you should volunteer to be with them. It is a week for honoring the officers but also classes for helping family member cope with the loss.
