Default Burleson (Johnson County)

Has anyones pets been disappearing? My dog (shepherd chow mix) disappeared over two wks ago. We have had him for over 11 years. We rescued him from the pound and raised him. He has never ran away, very friendly. It breaks our heart that this has happened. We have posted pics around and even offered a reward. I brought this to tech because I have been talking to neighbors and some of their pets have been vanishing without a trace also (cats, neighbors lab, 2 small yorkies). I have been to the pound and no joy. What kind of sick F**K would snag a old dog? He was not sick but I know an old dog will run away and die. I would post pics but I dont have any on my computer. He has a shepherd face with a chow body, brown with a red collar and answers to DOSER.
Is it possible that a coyote would come this close? I saw a really big one about 2 months ago but coyotes are an oppurtunistic predator they dont really wanna pick a fight and Doser would have put one up he weighed around 75 pnds.

What part of burleson are you in? I live right on the edge of burleson and joshua out in the country. My neighbor's have been spotting pretty big bob cats out here. One was right in our front yard one morning and we have two small dogs. One weighs 6 lbs and the other 9 lbs. Some scary ****...

your dogs must be really small if your worried about a bobcat..... They mostly eat small birds, mice, small rabbits etc.

To the Op, coyotes or any other large predator is probably what is getting everyone's pets up there. Also your crazy if you think a larger dog is not susceptible to getting attacked, they often hunt in packs and will especially target a dog-cat or anything by itself for that matter.

Right near the hidden valley golf course close to Old Town. Our property backs up to the creek.

Oh ok. You're probably 5 straight miles from my house, so I doubt it's a bobcat.

1bdbullitt: I'm gonna say that statement is incorrect about a bobcat. My uncle shot and mounted a bobcat that weighed in at 40 lbs and the reason he shot it was because it was coming at his 90 lb black lab. Big cats aren't something to ignore. Hell, a while back, there was a mountain lion that was trapped that had 3 separate human DNA in it's stomach.

Read my post one more time, I said coyotes or any other large predator! Also or bobcats in this part usually weigh in the 16-30 lb range. I used to work a taxidermy shop so I've seen them a few times.

Yeah but a 30 lb cat is a big ****** cat. Like this one I found on images.google by typing "30 lb bobcat"

My gf's bigger dog is half that size and her smaller dog is probably 1/4 that size. I think a cat that size could easily take a 50 lb dog. They're probably close to the same size.

This jobs keeping me busy should be outta training next week. I have had some real shitty luck this year man. First I lose Zach, then I get laid off, and now my Got dam dog disappears. I could write a country song. Have you found anything yet. Sygma is a whole lot better company than the X. The works a lot harder but you kinda get used to it. I think one of the trainees just quit so they might have an opening up I will ask Brian.

To be honest, i really don't think a coyote was responsible for your dog. Maybe 3-4, but not one...

I spot single dogs on the ranch all the time, i think he would hear a pack of 3-4 attacking his dog.

My guess is he ran off or someone took him
