Default Well I think I FINALLY figured out whats wrong with my car(6.8mpg)... Fixable?

I noticed this leak on the fuel rail... When I gave it gas, it was gushing out. I think this is the cause for the car sputtering under acceleration/less than 7mpg  It appears as though its right at the seem. Some guy at autozone recommended "Waterweld", by JB weld. So I picked some up. What do you guys think? Should I try that? Or get a new fuel rail? What do you guys think could have caused this?

Holy F*! Glad its something simple you can fix yourself. Now word of advice...Park it. You're literally going to go up in a ball O' flames driving like this man. How could anyone miss that? The smell/drainage alone are clearly recognizable. Don't even think about ghetto fabin' that leak either. Tell them to fire that redneck at Vatozone for us all too. Yes, get a used rail. Hell Duffster may still have his before we upgraded. PM him. His was fine prior to removal. If you get it somewhere else be smart and simply check it over first for the obvious. Parts are everywhere. New is certainly not necessary at the rate members are totaling their cars today. Ask me how I know? Lol Swap should be a total breeze!

I cant really tell from the pic where the source of the leak is. Could be that blue fitting. I would say a used rall is fine, what ever you do, do not "rig" it. AND DONT DRIVE THAT CAR ANYWHERE...heard to many stories about fuel leaks and death

Ya, I'll have no problem keeping it parked. Its been parked days at a time this past month bc of how shitty its been running/low MPG. I haven't noticed the drainage, bc everytime I seem to want to check out my car. It had been sitting for a while and probably dried up. I checked the fuel pressure yesterday after the car had been sitting for a couple days, and I noticed no gas came out. And I thought that was odd. I guess now I know why I'll send Duff a PM.

Its seeping(sp?) out of the seal I circled. When I shut the car off, air bubbles were forming on the seem.

The new rail you put on will also start to leak with all that weight on the end of the schrader (sp) valve

im really suprised that it being in such close proximity to the alt that it didnt ignite the fumes alone and go from there.

I was kinda thinking that, and mostly, if he was getting that bad of gas mileage, that is a lot of fuel dumping onto the exhaust that runs at... "how hot tech guys"...... FRIGGEN HOT!!!!

Be lucky you only have to replace the rail and not the entire Harness and front end.... not to mention all the plastic stuff that woulda melted
