Default purple hornies

im considering putting them on my 78 camaro
i want to do
headers 2.5 pipe x pipe then the hornies
my question is how much do you think the hornies would add on power
right now i have a 2'' pipe true duels with flows but in not sure what kind of flows

i want it loud but of course to sound good

right now its the original 350 bored .30
5 angle valve job on the heads
600 edelbrock carb

Do spiral flows, 1 chamber flowmasters or the outlaw flowmaster. The hornies sound like glass packs, i hate them.

x3 ^^^, The moroso spiral flow or Flo pro twisters sound damn good..loud as hell when your on it but no racking/popping like glass packs. I had a set of flo-pro's on a small blocked 85 s-10 a few years back, sounded great. I've had a set on my camaro now for about 5yrs or so.

Borla xr1 bullet style muffler. Everything else in that category sounds like straight up doo doo!

IMHO spiral flows restrict a lot of the exhaust. Since the inside is only 1" straight through, and the outside is a spiral chamber. This causes the exhaust to hit this chamber before exiting through it, thus restricting flow. I have them... They sound OK. I would never trade the sound I had of my ypipe/cutout.

I would do a muffler that's a straight through design if you want the best flow and if you're not worried about loudness; Magnaflow, Borla, Dynomax Bullets, LPP Stainless true duals, Sweet Thunders, etc... Just depends on your preference of sound. Go to ls1sounds.com

Edit: I just saw this was going on an older camaro... Thought it was going on a newer gen...

thats because the hornies ARE glasspacks. definately old school. i wouldnt think twice about puttin them on an older car like that. its basically a flanged cherry bomb with a dump, so its ready to be bolted on. sound pretty good, i'd check youtube before you put them on though

Nothing beats old school with a chambered muffler. There are alot of flowmaster haters on here, but those old cid 350's just sound great with a 1 or 2 chamber muffler.
