Death by Power Point

Death by Power Point
The last 6 weeks I have been in a traning school for work, what I have learned is, no body that works in an office can convey any sort of point to you with having it in power point format. It also gets annoying that they fail to realize that I do have the ability to read written english and so do the other 60 people in there with me. So they must now and try to read that **** out word for word, every single slide. Like thanks chief, I was having trouble with words in sentance format, I really haven't gotten off the hole picture with animal names under it. Maybe next slide you can have a picture of a cat with the word cat under it, just so I could have some thing to make me follow along. Lastly, the point your trying to make is on the ******* slide, you have done good reading out the last 50 slides, why on this one must you tell me a story that has nothing to do with the slide.

What about Net meetings and ****** Email???? I get sick of that crap. I enjoy interaction between people and this job makes me feel like a damn hermit. Some of these clowns are across the room and instead of asking me a question I get a DAMN email. Then I get the stink eye for not replying quickly.WTF

E-mailing some one and wanting an instant repsonse is about as bad as when they send you a text message and want instant responses. Girls do that **** all the time with text messages, if you sent me a text or email, you don't want an instant reply.

My personal favorite is when a presenter is obviously uncomfortable standing in front of a room and speaking about, we hope, information they should know well.
They put a slide up with what looks like a book on the slide, 4000 words to a slide, then read it top to bottom also. It's a freaking mess.
My slides when i have to present:
1) 3-4 bullet points per page
2) I have it set up to give me a few buzzwords on the presenters screen and a few subpoints about it they dont see on screen or handouts.
3) Everyone always stops listening by about the 10minute mark anyways, I don't care how good you are at presenting. Might as well keep it concise and straightforward. If they want more info, speak to me in person or raise your hand.

Fortunately, I don't have to do formal presentations very often. Instead, I do interactive training sessions now. If I do have to use slides, I throw a random funny picture in every 3-4 slides. Usually a lolcat or failblog pic.

Meh ... I guess I'm just accustomed to email ahah .. But were one of those offices where the first thing you do when you get in is open the outlook and check your email. I rather not talk to some of the people in the office face to face anyways! But yes expecting the instant response is ridiculous .. especially when they send you responses back nagging you ... If I would have heard something from them or got what you asked me to do done already I would have told you! NO I haven't since its only been a couple minutes!!

I really enjoy all the gesticulation my boss does during his presentations, and when he goes back a few slides because he forgot something and then summarizes what we just went through while he's going back through them.
