Default Chevelle threw rods, 350 or LSX?

Well, I pull up to a light today and the car dies. I start it back up and it's knocking worse than an ex girlfriend on your front door you just dumped. I take off from the light and all hell breaks loose, I pull over to the side of the road with smoke pouring from every gap in the hood. I pop the thing open and there are fluids everywhere with a massive hole in the pan and even a chunk of it sitting in the lip of the front wheel. So this "brand new" engine I have is now trash.

Long story short, I have a beaten like a red headed step child 2001 SS. Should I just yank that bitch out, put in in the Chevelle and call it a day? Or throw in a 454?

I don't have any play money right now for this **** so I am thinking an LSX swap is in order. Aside from some swap plates I basically have everything needed. What would you guys do? I will have to sell the SS to pay for another engine, so either way I am going to be without a vehicle for a bit. My first LS swap took 8 months, the next time took a few days with a lot of that being lack of parts related, so I feel like I shouldn't have an issue.

Pics soon. If anyone wants to make offers on parts from the SS, PM me. I guess that will be the deal breaker.

I sold the old TA, it's still chillin in my drive way actually.

Pm me some details on your set up and we'll talk. The Chevelle needs to be as fast as it looks so this might be a blessing in disguise. The damn thing still runs though lol.

Don't bother with an LSX swap unless you fix that interior.

Can you tell what caused the motor to let go?

I'm guessing oil or oil pressure loss even though I checked it a few days ago. There's not much oil every where but I went a mile before getting to a safe place.

I was going to a swap meet this weekend for a dash lol.

Do the swap and part out the SS. How much for the dash filler? Mine cracked.

Like the piece in between the dash and the windshield? Mines cracked too.

So far how it's looking, it will cost the same for me to do the LS swap, then to sell the SS and rebuild the 350. So as it's looking the camaro is going to be cut up. LS1 and OD trans > slow 350. I actually might make money with an LS swap.

It just clicked that there was coolant everywhere, coming from the oil pan. So would that be a head gasket/ cracked head?
