Default Back after a 6 year hiatus.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to reintroduce myself. I recently got back in to an F-body after getting rid of mine about 6 years ago. I used to have a 2002 Black M6 SS and I just purchased a 1999 Red Z28 about a month ago to have as a project car. I don’t post on here very much but I’m on here every day reading literally every post in the Texas Members section. Btw it has been a long time so I can’t quite remember how to post pictures. I will post some pics if you want but it’s just your typical Red Z28 with silver ZR1’s.

A little about the car… I bought the car in Oklahoma and it needs some work for sure. The interior is decent with no tears in the seats, but it of course has the notorious cracked dash. The exterior is also somewhat okay, it has an RS spoiler on it and it’s pretty faded, also the bumpers have some spider webbed cracks in them. As far as mods go right now it has a Vortech supercharger (pretty dated) on it and that’s really the biggest thing it has going for it other than full exhaust. My plan as right now is to leave the supercharger on there to salvage some power and get busy building the rear end and transmission up. It’s currently an automatic but I’ve given some thought into doing a six speed swap. Once all that is said and done I’ll probably take the supercharger off and just do a H/C/I build. The car is current dyno tuned right at 450 RWHP.

Thanks for stopping in!

Good to be back ina F car huh? I'm still getting used to mine. Just not used to having a 4th gen again.

And if the wife's 4L60 takes a crap in her 98 TA, I'll put a manual control 4L80 in its place.

I'm definitely loving it but it's also taking some getting used to for me.

My wife and I have talked about getting her a TA now since she used to have one too.

Nice, I passed a deal on a powerdyne supercharger kit for my SS. It would have been cool to have the extra power.

And my wife now has 2 trans ams, lol. The 86 we got in high school and now the 98. She been driving the wheels off the 98. She has wanted a 98-02 TA for as long as I wanted a LS1 SS car. So you need to get her one, lol.

Dude, that's awesome that y'all have had that 86 for that long!

I think hers was a 98 too, but she had it and sold it before we met. It was a beautiful car and she sold it for $3k. I about lost it when I found that out. Lol

I gotta be honest, the supercharger is kinda cool but I'd much rather be able to say that I make 450+ with all motor.

Man, if it doesn't have a cam and is quiet, that's a sneaky 450 that folks don't understand why they just got destroyed by a LS Juan that is not beating the ground. Lol

Agreed, the only way to keep her out of yours is to get her one of her own, hence why we now have two. Upon her getting her SS, we agreed that the next big purchase is a new house (probably next year), and then I'll be hunting for a clean first gen.

Yeah, we're just about busting the seams of this 3 bed/2 bath home, which is why it's next (that and I want a three car garage in the next one).

The wife's car has received candy corn tails, a convertible cover, and a GMMG exhaust in the past year. She'll get my ZR1's if I can find a set of FM5's that I'm happy with.

It never ends
