Default Looking to buy a new truck need advice!

I'm looking to buy a new truck in the next month or so and I would like a diesel truck to haul my car to the track and as a daily driver. I have never owned a diesel so I'm looking to see if any of you have some insight on what to get, what not to get, etc...

I would like to get a Chevy truck, possibly 4x4 for around $15K or lower. Maybe a Dodge even, I would just get sick to my stomach pulling my car with a Ford.

I'm looking for a few questions also like how many miles should I expect on the truck for the $15K and what year model. I'm asking you guys because I just don't want to create an account on one of those diesel forums and you usually have good input.

Check out the link below and let me know if this is a good deal. It's kind of what I'm looking for. thanks!

Ill sell you my 07 for $11,500. Duramax 190k miles crew cab. Stay away from lifted **** unless you want to replace front end parts.

And dont get an 02 back duramax, they are **** engines. Stick with an 03+.

On my Ford diesel, I just had the oil and oil filter changed, fuel filter changed, air filter replaced and spin-on trans filter replaced ... $320.

Everything is more expensive on a diesel. Not worth it at all. You can pull 10K lbs just fine with a decent 6.0 in an HD.

You want 04.5 and above retard is a retard reason is the went to a lly the older ones
Had injector problems. Plus you had to remove the heads to get to them and there 2500-3000.

06 and up have 6 speed Allison that's a big plus.

Lol you're a bitch.

And yes it's because of injector issues.

Dodge trucks are great. I had a 3500 6 speed which got a little under 20mpg city and lowish 20's chipped. I could go forever on a tank but if you barely get on the gas it hurts bad. The front ends are stout and they are the best handling of the three personally. This truck seemed the most solid out of them all.

Ive owned them all. Fords are best if you are budget shopping, cummins is the best engine by far and a very well rounded truck, only thing I've noticed are the lift pumps go bad but it's not too big of a deal. Dodge trucks have no backseat at all and it sucks, sometimes after a long haul you'd like to take a nap and being 6'5 that isn't happening in the backseat of a dodge.

I just got my duramax but I'm loving it, friggen fast stock and the 15mpg city is nice compared to the 99 f350 on 37's I sold to get it. My truck is so smooth and quiet, rides very nice. Ive noticed a lot of Chevys have minor front end slop, it might be because of cranked torsion bars. I've never driven a new body style dodge that hasn't driven great, fords and Chevys lack a little though.

Test drive a dodge and a Chevy and see what you like. 6.0 fords are nice when you EGR delete them. I'll send you pics of mine, it's a base model but it's the best year.

if i were to get a duramax i would not go lower than an 06.5, i believe thats when they switched from the lly motors to the lbz. (im not exact on everything they changed but i know from reading up on it that, that motor is a lot better) the lb7 had injector issues and the lly motors had overheating issues. i have not heard too many issues regaurding the lbz motor.

as far as 15k as long as your ok with 150k+ miles then you will prob be able to find one. i really would like a duramax also but i think im going to end up getting a dodge because i can get one with low miles a hell of a lot cheaper than a duramax. i just dont like the interior all that much on them but i've come to the conclusion that it's hard to beat that motor.

not trying to thread jack but anyone on here have a 6.7? any problems with them, looking at getting one around 07-09. i know about the egr bull **** but other than that.

06-07 Duramax LBZ with Allison is the best setup period. No emissions, bullet proof engine and transmission. A little more $, but for MPG, Reliablity and power this is the best bet.

Any Dodge with a 5.9 cummins and a manual transmission is a bullet proof setup as well. Dodge automatics and rearends are junk.

Ford 7.3 With the Manual trans is bullet proof as well...automatic trans is decent and can be built up nicely.

I have a New (2012) F250 6.7 and I love the hell outta it, 16.8 mpg's avg looks damn good and the ride is amazingly smooth. I looked at all 3 (new) and am a gm fan but the ford IMHO was the way to go. 4k miles no issues, next month doing tune and egr/def delete and exhaust cai. Just my .02 obviously can't get one 2011+ under 15k but don't be so quick to rule out ford, good luck either way.

i think the fords are the nicest diesels as well. HOWEVER they have too many issues in my opinion. i mean if i was rich and could afford to get a new diesel every 5 years it would be a ford but i want a truck that will get me to 300k without too many issues.
