Thumbs down 'Loud Muffler" Ticket

I was rolling down hwy6 in mo city when a cop pulled me over, he said my muffler was too loud, the gay thing is I wasnt even getting on the gas and the borla is pretty quite when you are not at WOT. Anyhow here is my question, I just got this car not to long ago, and it is not registered and has not been inspected, if I were to pass inspection before my court date would I be able to have the ticket dismissed?

Do you have Cats?

You can not get a noise vio. on a 3-4 lane "highway" no matter what time it is.

The only possible way they can give you a "noise vio" is if you were in a subdivison, etc.

If you have cats and a muffler system, it will be dismissed when you go to court.

Been pulled over 5 times from the same jackass (Black Knight)

Good luck

i believe they give you a 10 (business) day grace period after you got the ticket to get it done and show it to the judge when you have court. i remember i had a ticket for expired inspection. i did it on a saturday and that was the 11th day for me. but they still dismissed it. i gave them the excuse that i work m-f and could only get it done on the weekends.

Actually i dont know if passing inspection will help you .IM a state inspector and there is not limit to how loud it can be. he reason im saying this is you can have a 69 camaro and by law it just has to have mufflers to pass inspection but it can be as loud is he wants as long as its mufflers .The sound polution laws are a totally different thing believe me i know first hand. Its kind of like the tint law for inspection it can be 20% but for a DPS it cant be under 25%. And then theres the city laws which are all different. So basicly i think your screwed and it aint cheap cost my around $380.

If you faught it, I dont think it would hold up seeing as what the inspector above said. Just becuase the cop said it was loud, dosent really mean its loud. It was his opinion, and that dosent really hold up in court.

When you get a speeding ticket, you are told you broke the law. (Limit is 70, you were doing 90)
Now depending on the local laws, I think I would try an dbring this up in court.
Simply as the cop (if he shows up) how loud the car was.
Ask him if he has any idea of the dB level.
Or ask him to compare it to something.
I did this once before and it worked very well.
I recall the judge asking the cop" So, just how loud was this car?, Don't you have any way to objectively measure this?"

exactly, he wont have any numbers to back anything up.

Like he said, inspection law often isn't the same or even contradicts other statutes. Is there anything on that muffler that says "DOT Approved"?
