Default Houston people, got a question...

A couple of buddies and myself are headed into town this weekend for the NHRA. We're staying up by Beltway 8 and I-45. What is there to do up in that neck of the woods. i.e. clubs, pubs, etc.? I'm familiar with the Westheimer/Richmond area from trips in the past, but not so much with the north side of town.

Appreciate the help!

i heard club 'hush' is cool. it's on I-10 right off the beltway going west.

other than that, just go up and down westheimer till you see something interesting.

So westheimer is where its at...? Sucks that we'll have to drive half way across the world to get there.

There is a Sams Boat going further north in the Woolands. Hmm. not sure if its a shorter drive to just go there or go to the Westeimer/Richmond area. If I remember correctly, there are al kinds of places going that direction.

do you like country bars? Wild West (on Richmond) is busy on Friday nights. Cheap drink night, like $2 anything. Big Texas Saloon is a few miles north on I45 from where you guys are staying. Its pretty good on Saturday nights, plenty of eye candy. www.BigTexasSaloon.com

Downtown (Midtown area) is decent on Fridays and Saturdays. Check out "Pub Fiction" on Friday or Saturday, but get there before 10pm or the line is long. www.PubFiction.com

BTW, I45 @ Beltway is the Greenspoint area. Also known as 'Gunspoint' when it gets dark. The hotels in this area (I work here) have more reported car thefts and break-ins than any other area in Houston.

don't leave any valuables in plain sight, and I hope you don't have nice cars

Restaurant wise, head north on 45 from the beltway to 1960, you can't miss the exit, it's right after a nissan dealership. Take 1960 West and you'll run into a TON of restaurants and bars. Mexican, American, seafood, chinese, whatever you want it's on 1960. Also on the southbound side of 45 about 2-3 miles north of the beltway, there are 3-4 nice restaraunts, italian, a joes crab shack, and a mexican place.

Sherlocks Pub is nice, if you haven't been to one, GO! There are a few locations. I think theres one actually near baytown, so maybe after the races you could hit it up.

Strip club wise, theres two on the north side that I highly recommend:

St. James Place (really classy, huge place, lots of girls)
Ricks Cabaret (best girls I've seen in one place)

Just do a google search for directions/website.

This girlfriend of mine who Im standing with in a wedding this year loves to dance. I'm not much of a dancer and she goes to Wild West often. She tells me she's going to drag me in there to teach me how to dance so I might see some of you up there some time.

Damn, that ominous. Sounds like we're going in my buddies POS blazer rather than my Z.

don't just go for the music, the girls at country bars are much more friendly than at downtown bars. Its probably about half and half as far as what the crowd is like.
