I need advice !!!
Ok well here's the deal, I have wanted a bike for so long, and I have about 6 months riding experience. The thing is my buddy is selling his 2001 750 to me for 3500 with 13k. My experience was on this bike and I know its power, and my mom is totally against them . My dad has raced top gas bikes for 10 years and doesn't want me to cause of my mom. I would just like to do something with my dad. Should I chance it?? Any suggestions on what to do???

Tough call bro..
My mother is the reason I didn't get a bike years ago.. It would break her heart if I did something stupid and got killed and I can't put her through that again. (Her brother was killed on one)
If you do get it take the safty class, and always wear your gear.

Yeah, I see what you mean.. I just want to do something with my dad you know? Plus all my friends got bikes and it would be badass to go ride with them. Well see I guess I don't know what I am going to do. I might just buy it and sit it in the garage until I mature a little more in my parents eyes . My 507 rwhp Ls1 doesn't seem to bother them..

Listen, tell yer mom that this means alot to you to be able to get with dad on the weekend or something and just go for a ride....as for riding with your friends, I feel ya. I was a poor kid growing up, I used to follow my friend in and on anythign I could...even if it meant me walking 3-4 miles to the riding area.....
Riding with friends is and can be extremely fun.....But that is the crowd you really have to watch out for, peer pressure is a bitch.....Tyring to do wheelies and stoppies and all that, it's neat and kewl.....the the streets is not the place for it. Ride responsibly, safely, and take the Riding safety course.....Always keep your head on straight. If you have to think twice about doing something, then you dont need to do it.......Hope this helps....

Thanks guys and GIRLS lol for coming in. I am going to get the bike and keep it into a garage until I buy a jacket, gloves, helment, etc. Also until I take my safety course.

I've always heard there are 2 types of riders. Those who have wrecked and those who will. How often and how bad may depend more on gender and age though.

I haven't ridden in almost 15 years now, and everytime I get the urge, I just read the list of names I keep of friends of mine that have died, or been permenantly damaged while riding their bikes .. that list has eleven names on it (eight of them deceased), and there is no way I am adding mine to it ..
like everyone has said.. wear ALL of your gear, EVERY time you get on, even if it is only up the block.. watch out for all the idiots in cars, and don't ride with any idiots either, because they can hurt you just as quick.

I am probably going to get one around Christmas time. I say go for it, but please be careful. Oh, and if you want to stunt, get a fiddy, they are WAAAAAYYYYY fun and you won't hurt yourself badly when learning how to stunt.
