Just paid a TABC tax on alcohol. WTF? All of a sudden there's a TABC 'reinbursment' tax on alcohol served at restaurants/bars? I figured it to be ~10% too...
When we order a beer it's gonna be MORE than the usual outrageous prices at a resturant? WTF?

I am a server and have never heard of this. And none of the bars/restaraunts I have been to lately have had one... Where'd you hear about this?

From what I read on the comptroller web site, there's a 14% mixed drink tax. I'd bet that some places roll this in to the cost of the drink (for example, a $4 drink might "include" the tax). But some places can make more money if they tack the 14% on after calculations... a $3.75 drink plus a 14% tax equals a $4.28 drink. 
Makes more money for the seller that way. Kinda like ebay shipping charges.
