Default Can't rip with Windows Media Player?

I'm trying to rip songs from my favorite CD's with the newest little version of WMP. Well, it says that:

"Windows Media Player cannot rip one or more tracks from the CD."

Why the F**K can't it? It's not like they're all nice new CD's, 90% of my stuff is burned already, I'm just trying to pull it off the disc and put it on my 'puter. I've looked at all my settings and see nothing...

WMP 11 won't let you do squat.

Find another program to do it. It is M$ way of trying to control illegal software copying.

Yeah, if i knew what DRM and wdm11 and STFU and all that other stuff was, I'd probably know how to rip CD's. I figured I had already made it painfully obvious that i use a computer to surf the net and type notes for school, and that's it.
Computers scare the hell out of me!

I use CDEX. It very rarely has a problem ripping CD's.

I have spun all my original CD's exactly once, to rip them to MP3. I then burn off a copy for the car, since that's where I listen to them most. If the copy gets scratched, I just make another one.

i use Audiograbber and rip everything to good old standard MP3 format. forget WMA, i won't use a format that is limited on what it will work on.

CDEX is pretty good too, but Audiograbber has more features
