Default Roadside Emissions Testing Machines

Alright, I heard about these things a long time ago, it seems im seeing more of them now, there are alot alongside 183 when you are going onto 183 because it has to catch you accelarating. Everytime I see one of these damn things, I almost go through one then I notice and Im like damn, so i ride the service road.

The deal with these things are, if im right, not sure its in effect yet but I wont take my chances, when you pass through, it measures emissions then if you are polluting, it will snap a shot of your plates (cameras are setup) then it will send you a letter in the mail telling you, you have so many days to get your car fixed etc. or they will cease your vehicle until you do so. Not sure how true it is but Im not sure if thats wats going on yet. Anyone went through one, I know Im not gonna. lol

I'm pretty sure nobody's going to seize your car because of its emissions output... They'll just mail you a ticket or a notice is all.

That said, I floor it whenever I see these things in the Duster - 25 or older = no emissions testing!

lol, i just heard that from some people that specialized in that field, for the emissions and said that they were doing this, next thing I know, a year or so later, I see these things. But supposingly when they do implement it, they are going to send you tickets.

183 in Dallas?

if I see one(not much time to react) I turn the engine off and coast by, but remember to turn the key back on so you dont lock the steering wheel. Remember you dont have power steering

I accidentally went through one about 3 weeks ago on I45. I saw it as the last second and threw it in neutral and let off the gas, just coasted through. They were there for about a week, so the rest of the time I rode the feeder for one entrance in the mornings.

Awesome, I'd love to see that!

I've been seeing these around Houston more and more lately. (Or I'm just more aware that they are around now.)

I try to avoid them, but if not, I turn the car off and coast through...then pop the clutch and go after I'm beyond it.

I have some friends that just floor it and race through them AFAP...give em hell right? lol

guy told me this:

they take a picture of your tag then send a letter stated it is out of the required specs, if you dont get it fixed the next time you go to register your car they will refuse the registration application until you prove the vehicle has passed the required test! they will not take your car!
