DFW.. Why only 1 1/4 mile track.
So why the hell is there only 1 1/4 mile track in this city...
This sucks.... because the one that is here is run by... cough cough...
and they only open when they feel like it....
I been in smaller cities, with less race fans that have had better 1/4 mile tracks..
I am not a fan of the 1/8 miles, but man those are some of the best tracks around here... WTF??

Dude, you post a lot! I heard there was a new track opening out in East Texas? 1/4 mile and they are done laying the asphalt. Not sure why there are not more; 1/8 mile has less wear and tear on the cars though.

Motorsports Tycoon Bruton Smith is taking more than a casual interest in drag racing. He has given his staff at his Ft. Worth NASCAR plant the go-ahead to build a dragstrip on the premises. You can bet Billy Meyer doesn't welcome that news. When the track at Ft. Worth is complete he will then have four National Event sites to run drag races on: Sonoma, Las Vegas, Bristol, and Ft. Worth. One rumor that has been floated is that Mr. Smith may look into the possibilities of fronting an eight race circuit of his own. It is well known that Smith at one time looked into buying NHRA and has talked to people in the industry about having his own sanctioning body. A Smith backed sanctioning body is just a rumor but a very intriguing one and just the thought of Bruton Smith doing this could make the boys in Glendora very nervous.

I sit at a computer for 12 hours.. The past 2 months we have been on peek freeze, so we have not done much changes to servers or the network...
So basically not much going wrong...
With no application engineers allowed to test and install new crap, we dont have to figure out how to keep things working..
its a matter of waiting...
So I have long 12 hour days of posting......
East Texas huh..
I like the deal about the ft worth.. hope that is true.. closer then east tx. Wait well...

They are building one out 175 near Maybank. Not sure if it's 1/4 or 1/8 but the tower is up and the surface is started. From what I heard this is the second time the track has been graded. Apparently the first time it was pointed at some houses that were too close. LOL

alot of people talk down on kennedale.. I love that track.. that track is good, some great traction...
I have not had the best runs there, but those were some of my first time out with this car.. Well it was my first time out there with my car. With this car that is.
I am planning alot of crap at kennedale for the club...
some good fun bracket'ing this race season coming up.. That should be fun
but I heard something about how much distance they have behind the track.
I heard they could make it a 1/4 mile track,, but then you would have to slam on your brakes. LOL

**** 1/4 mi racing. 1/8th mile is where its at. If you are going 4's at 300 MPH then its cool but 11,12 sec cars need not apply. (Unless you have a turbo) If you cannot get it done in an 1/8th you sure ain't doing it in a 1/4 mi.
Kennedale use to be a 1/4 mi. track WAY back in the day.

1/4 mile tracks..
I must be backwards, because when I am looking at the 1/4 mile track. about to launch... I seem to get better times on my 1/8 mile time, then when I go to an 1/8 mile track and run it..
again.. I have only had car out at track 3 different times...
1/8 mile, best time was 8.6
1/4 mile, best time was 8.2
odd huh.....

1/4 mile is a waste of time in a street car hands down. Anyway isnt there a new track being built in Seagoville ? And if 1/4 mi was so great there would be more of them.

only rumors.....

the main reason there are no 1/4 mile tracks in DFW other than Ennis is that Billy Meyer and NHRA have a contract that no other NHRA sanctioned event can be held within 150 miles of the Motorplex in Ennis....building a 1/4 track at TMS would be sweet, but really wouldn't be worth it unless Bruton could buy out that contract from Billy/NHRA.

the track being built on 175 is a 1/4 mile and it will be available for next season it is in Crandall, TX.....
and from rowlett that is about 25-mins......much closer for me as well coming from mckinney.....can't wait for it to open....
but honestly one of the best NO RULES tracks in the DFW is redline in your backyard in Caddo Mills just east of u......by no rules i mean they are IHRA which is a much looser sactioning body and the track is HUGE flexible with the hole got have this gotta do that....they run a very safe track just much more accomidating when you start going fast......JMHO
