Tall guys with lifts? 6'4"+
I'm about to bite the bullet on a lift and I was wondering what the tall fellas like me are doing? I've worked under regular height lifts but I really need something a little taller. I'de like to be able to stand under my car and not hit my head on everything under the car.
IF I can't find anything that suites what I need I guess I'll just buy some extra pad extensions and just have to jack the car up and set it on the pads

our rotary in ground lifts at the shop are barely adequate for me (6'4") to stand upright.
unless a truck comes in where the pads are flipped up onto the frame, id say 90% of cars i work under i have my head sideways, or am hunched over.
the 2 post hoists are even worse IMO. usually those are used on bigger, heavy trucks which means that you cant lift them as high before they hit the stop. im even MORE hunched over under those. cars they are okay on the two posts for me most of the time.
drive on lift....good luck lol.
honestly, i'm more pissed off when i have to hunch over in an engine bay than when i have to work under a car. after a set of head gaskets, my back is ready for the couch.

I'm only 6'1" so not as tall as you, but when I bought my lift, height was important. Most lifts at shops I've worked for were too low. I didn't have room for a 12k lift and they are quite a bit more money than a 10k anyway. I had my mind set on a Challenger VS10 partly because of the lift height listed in the specs. That lift is discontinued and the one that replaced it is shorter, though I don't remember if the lift height was the same or not.
Anyway I went with a Bendpack XPR-10. I have screw pads, truck extensions, and frame cradles, so overall I'm able to lift it high enough generally. As far as $3,000 10k lifts go, I think the Bendpak is the best bet.

thanks fellas. I have worked under a few different lifts and don't remember which brands right off hand but none seemed tall enough for me.
I've come to the conclusion that I just might bust the concrete up a little and pour a footer up about 4" taller than the slab and build a drive on ramp to get the car up high enough to put the arms under the car and I will still be able to get under it.
