Default garage lighting

So we got some new lights in at work today. So I took a few home to see how they work, first let me say these suckers are bright. they are 85w twisted floresent lights. that is 85w of floresent watts, so these are about the same as 250w incandesant lamps. I will post pics soon however they really don't do the justice, the best part is that it is clean white light.

no it's not a tube, its a coiled floresent so it uses a standard medium base screw type socket 120v, works just like a regular light bulb except throws about 3 times the light.

heh, that reminds me of my garage right now. My original 2 wimpy fixtures have been replaced with 2 or 3 head outdoor fixtures with 150W halogen bulbs in each socket. then I have 2 sockets hanging off the bottom of my tire rack with pair of those compact fluorescents in them (2 in that location pretty much light up the underhood space with the car lifted with the light of day) and then 3 more sockets with 23W compact fluorescent bulbs in them across the top of my bench/shelf deal...

I get them trgough my work. unfortunately I ahve to buy them a case at a time and no I really don't get a discount besides what we pay. but since we are a distributor I get a realatively good deal.

The lights look good.... I'd be interested in buying some as well, but it depends on the pricing.

I did a quick search and found these....

The bulbs are pretty expensive at $20/bulb, but you might be able to find them cheaper if you search more.

I actually found some of these in 55watt variety at Lowes this weekend. Granted, they only put out an equivalent of 240watt incandescent, but at $10 a peice I was sold. I replaced 4 of the 8 lights in my basement with these and it as my wife says, it was like daylight downthere. They were a 5000K light, so they were a very clean, white light.

Check out Lowes or Home Depot and you may find these there.

I could use a couple of these in my apartment. have you come up with a price for them yet? I'm just double checking, but these do just screw into a regular light socket? and do you have any info/idea of what type of life they have?

you know I've got an 8 white led flashlight that is brighter than the sun. everywhere i've read praises led's for their brightness, efficentness etc, but why arn't they showing up in the garages and homes? anyone have any idea on this, besides the cost ofcouse
